How much bhp could my 1.8 make

Still weighing up whether to go for a 2ltr conversion so im wondering if tuning the 1.8 would be more rewarding....and cheaper! Err...i should know this by now i think

2ltr conversion should give me about 30bhp extra but if i worked my 1.8 whatd be a likely power/output? Currently it has cams/chip but would have lightened flywheel and headwork if i kept it....what do you think itd be at best?

Not sure about 30bhp. Standard willy lump is 150. 13bhp up on the valver lump!

As for tuning the 1.8 lump, iv done it, and i am happy, but it would have been a bit cheaper and easier to go for the straight swap with the willy lump.

Mine is about as fast as a standard willy, maybe a little bit quicker,(and iv drove a willy) especially as the 1.8 revs it knackers off quite happily, and has loads more torque than the standard 1.8, can drive around happily under 3k all day in it. But, if u went for the williams lump u have the opportunity to tune it further.

I need to get mine properly rolling roaded, the first time i had it done, it was only just run in, and ran 147@fly. Not loads of power, but the 2 other valvers with exhausts, decat etc were both running 127@fly on the same day, and the cups, 172s were around 160@fly

Only mods since then are k-tec manifold, BMC Filter, and rid of the cip i had (as it was poo), and it ran 169.1bhp. Bit high me thinks, but still a good comparison as there were a few other clios, and 19s there as well!

ah uv got cams, chip already! u could get the 2.0 bottom end on it then, or have ur lightened and balanced, and get it revving to 8k hehe!

Lightened flywheel wouldnt make that much a difference, as its already pretty light, i was gonna have mine done, and the bloke said not to bother as its already lightened enough. Probably why they love to rev their knackers off!

u could send BenR your head as well for some work! get the bottom end on, and get it unichiped!

Cheers m8! As i said, im thinking of getting the head and flywheel fitted as an alternative to the 2ltr bottom end and because it may be cheaper - will i really notice that much extra power in doing so and in what way (more kick at 4500rpm)?

Has to be said, i do like the kick that the valver has but unless youre in the right gear/right revs and someone goes past its bloody hard work to catch em......
