I have just been down there and had a good look round it, and it seems to have been well looked after. It has a parking dent on the passenger door (you can just see it in the pic), there are no swirl marks in the paint, that i can see.

The bump strips are a little scuffed, but should polish up (i would probably get them sprayed anyway) There are stone chips on the rear arch drivers side, but you would expect that from a 3 year old car. As for the milage, i didnt think it was too bad for its age.

Im just a little concerned its over priced. What do you think i should offer?

Ah mr blue.

How much difference will a PC make to those stone chips? any at all. I got mine through the other day, i just need the transformer to get it going. i cant wait to use it though.

So if i can get them to give me maybe 1 year warranty, and sort the scuffs on the bump strips, and the dent in the passenger door, would you pay £8k for it?

Or i can try and knock them down to £7.5k and pay my dads mate who is a brilliant sprayer and bodyworker £50 and he will spray in the rear arch, the bump strips, and sort the dent.

The question i want to know, is, IS £7.5K a good price if i can get it for that?

why not buy one of the ones being sold on here ?

Ideally i would like an unmolestered one, so i can do it how i like it.

Im just not sure what one i want, as there are a few on here for sale. But its hard to know from pictures if they are worth travelling for IMO.

Guilbert, the pc wont fix stone chips, as the damage is probably down to the undercoat/ metal, there good but not that good lol

Theres plenty out there. - tonight ive just bought a 52 plate with 20k on the clock - nearly immaculate- one stone chip and some scuffed alloys - must have been a numpty parking it against the curb !! I paid 7k with a full tank of petrol - 6 months warranty remaining. - dont think the bloke even knew how fast it was around 4k+ !!

Dude how do you know this badboys not been molestered though!!!

At the end of the day its still a cup and will have been driven hard sometimes, at least with one on here youl kno by the type of person sellin weather its been looked after or not!!!

Id personally always look at buying from the club first!!!

For £395 more I got a mint 53 plate (Dec 03) on 8400 miles from a dealer a few weeks ago, and that included a private Cup plate. Admittedly that was a good deal but I only had to wait 2 or 3 weeks (I checked here and AutoTrader daily) for a good one to come up locally.

I would push for £7250 with the work you want done written in to the deal. Got nothing to lose.

Certainly worth waiting for the right car, I nearly bought a standard silver 172 on a 02 plate with higher mileage for the same price just days before the Cup came up, would have kicked myself if I didnt wait for the car I really wanted.

there should be loads for sale around the 7.5k mark, it wont be that hard to get a decent one as they are only couple of years old.

There are some people though who want loads more for their cup.

If I was looking at the example you posted, id want it completely sorted first, then offer them 7.5k, also its worth noting that if its still under warranty & you get it painted else where other than renault they wont cover it any more (so i heard)

My dad got 1100 off of his 172 when he bought it second hand from a main dealer, so you should easily be able to twist their arm.
How long they had it for ?
if its a while, then you will be able to haggle hard.

Id wait for the new Clio range to come out because prices are gonna plummet then.

If it was going to be sooner than the end of the year, i would of done, but the money would of burnt a huge hole in my pocket by then!
