Insurance - Agreed value?

I'll soon be renewing insurance on the the T and made some initital enquiries about agreeing a value for it should the worst happen. They've requested pictures (front, rear, left, right, interior, engine bay) and I guess they'll come up with a low figure and we'll start the negotiations from there.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with an agreed value, and what car & figure did you manage to agree on?

For info mine's a Trophy, I'm the 4th owner, it's done 49k, had the belts etc done at Birchdown, had the dampers refurbed at BG, has a Pro-Speed cat-back exhaust, and apart from a stone-chipped bonnet I'd say it's in very good condition.

All comments welcome.

Cheers

Gap insurance covers the difference between the value of the vehicle and the remaining finance. As I own the car outright that's not applicable.

Cheers Dan, that's roughly the figure I had in mind.

In general though I'm not asking how much my car is worth, I'm asking if anyone has any experience of agreeing a value with an insurance company, what the process was like, whether you managed to reach agreement, and out of interest what car and what price did you agree on.

Anyone?

I've got an agreed value of 6000 on my T, they requested pics of the car aswell, proof of mileage was 30k at the time, immaculate par a phew stone chips, the process was fast and easy I just had to prove my car was worth top money,

Wish I'd have agreed valuation on my Trophy, insurers just go by the glasses guide, so a book figure is around £3k. Well worth doing on a more specialist vehicle.

I'd go for £5500 Tim. Who are the insurers/broker?

Hindsight is such a valuable thing Luke :dapprove:

Greenlight / Highway (LV).

I'll give the car a good clean this weekend, take some pictures as requested and send them in along with supporting evidence and will see how it progresses with them. If there are no costs involved then it's a no-brainer but we shall see.

Photoshop my number plates onto pics of your 'detailed within an inch of its life' Trophy (RIP)? Yours will probably be cleaner than mine ever will...

Thanks for the offer though mate. It would be good to get together with some various models & colours and do something local-ish, I know Oli would be keen too.

Just to confirm guys we are able to offer agreed value on most policies at no extra cost. Its definately something worth looking at to protect your pride and joy.

Its especially useful on modified cars or the rarer trophy models. An agreed value basically means that you set a guarenteed value that you are happy with so that in the event of a total loss you know exactly what you will be paid.

We do not charge any extra for agreed value and all you need to do its provide some pictures of the vehicle. If you have a build thread or pics on cliosport we could use this instead.

If anyone is looking for an agreed value policy then please dont hesitate to contact me at the office on 01277 376000 or drop me a PM with your contact details and i can run a quote through for you personally.

That's quite good if it's no extra cost.

Yes mate our underwriters recognise that using "Book Value" is not always the best practice when it comes to a performance car/modified car especially limited editions like the Clio Trophy.

We are happy to offer the agreed value service free of charge as it means the customer gets piece of mind. At the end of the day thats what you pay your insurance for.

Im happy to run a quote through for anyone looking for an agreed value. Our rates are really competetive on the Cliosport models and we can even do trackday cover at £45 per which could be useful for the Trophy guys ;)

Its with one of our underwriters in our panel by they only do it for existing policy holders.
