Interior strip out, footwell ideas?

Now I have my cage I've decided to go a bit more hardcore with the interior, ditch the carpets and any other bits I can live without and paint the bare interior. I'd like to see what you've done with your footwells, sitting in the car the strengthening rib that runs towards the brake pedal feels a bit awkward......do you just live with it and use grip tape or have you needed to install a false floor/footrest?

I've just got strategically placed grip tape in mine. I also kept the strengthening rib in there as its there to help prevent your ankles snapping in the event of a heavy frontal impact.

I've seen a pic on here of a car with it removed, not something I'm tempted to do tbh, but I think it'll bother me!

Make up an alloy false floor and then grip tape that?

I painted my drivers side floor with some truck bed liner paint I got from Halfords. I have previously used the gripper tape, but it started lifting when it got a bit wet.

The painted floor has the same feel of the gripper tape underfoot.

that looks superb. I've just bought a couple of Omp Ali ones, need to find spacers and bolts for it, pics when it's done

nothing fancy, just chequer plate with nice rounded corners, should tidy the footwell areas

Skateboard tape. Nice and grippy and non slip, plus you can cut it to the shape you want and just stick it down. Cheap, easy and practical.

I just bought generic grip tape from eBay, its ok and cheap, does the job but it's starting to rip it with little use due to the lack of a proper flat surface to stick it to I would imagine.

My Escort F2 car has a piece of alloy sheet that is bent to form a little step up an then forms a perfectly level floor, with grip tape applied to it.

It's worth noting that once you take the carpets etc out, the floor might actually end up feeling a bit low. I noticed that in my rally car when I first got it, so am fitting a foot rest to lift the floor a bit. Depends how thick the carpets and sound deadening are though!

Mine aren't for looks, I need to cover that horrible rib in the floor. Carbon is much nicer but too expensive for what I want, Ali will have to do

It can be a lot cheaper than you think now, especially for relatively small bits and pieces. I want some door cards for my Escort but they can get a bit pricey it seems.

Mine with strategic grip tape - it's been fitted a good while now and it's also seen plenty of use. No ripping!

Excuse the s**t pictures! It's dark in the garage and difficult to picture!

Use a hairdryer to form it around the creases is my advice.
