Intermittent Chirping Sound - Belt Area

I was going to have a good look yesterday but it was far too cold! Anyway, got an odd sound coming from the 182 which I hope someone has heard before... It an intermittent chirping sound which sounds like its from the belt area.

A couple of things to note -
•Heard a blocked breather could make the oil pump noisy but removing the breather makes no difference (nor does intentionally blocking it)
• Cambelt, Dephasher and Aux kit changed in Jan 2015 by a specialist
• Faulty alternator replaced with a genuine (new/refurb?) in Sept 2015 with a new aux belt

Here is a very quick video I made -

Thanks,
Amos

It does not sound like the oil pump. I had the blocked breather causing it.

You could try narrowing it down by using a long screwdriver, ear to handle and tip to various areas on the car.

Caution-moving parts!

Hopefully someone will be along to help.

Also note that if I intentionally block the breather, it does create a chirp. Maybe yours has a blockage further down.

Some belts are just noisy at times. Search for ChrisFix youtube video on noisy belts for help identifying the cause. I rate his videos very highly.
