All networks have their own settings too, worth checking those.

EE for example you can do it on the app i think.

Yeah @JamesBryan is right. If it’s not the phone settings, will be the provider.

I had to ring Vodafone and ask them to allow explicit content to enable me to undertake my moderator duties on here.

They have almost certainly put a content restriction in place for your safety, contact the network to get it lifted. (or use Wifi)

Unless you're special and someone has opened your phone up, placed content restrictions on the device then put it back in the box to sell.
It could happen i suppose.
