KTR Kevlar Brake Pads

  Stanced Honda S2000

hi all. need some new brakes, arnt sure what the garage put on mine last time but they only lasted 4k miles. also when i went on the countryside blast (ragging the nuts off the car in the countryside) my brakes got hot and spungy. its a 1.2 16v sport . i have seen the KTR kevlar pads and am looking at investing. i mean i drive quite quick. just nippy really. are they the best thing to get. and how much wud a garage charge to fit them.

K-tec claim, lower brake dust and long life. so, ar they right for me ?

The K-Tec ones are pretty good apparently...

Its someone elses pad with their name on it!

Ive got them. better braking especially when there hot, bite alot more.

Best part is the reduction in dust though, havent got to clean my turbines as much, and they are a pain to clean.

EBC blacks are a good, cheap replacement for the standard, but if you want a fast road/track day pad there are a load of other option like the EBC green stuff, a lot of people on here seem to rate Mintex to (cant remember the number).

ah, sounds good. dont i need green tho ? fast road ? so they dont go as spongy when warm ?>

Ive used both black and green pads and both are good. If your brakes are going spongy then I would try changing your brake fluid for Castrol response super dot 4 stuff.

The Mintex pads are M1144, but I think they cost a fair bit more (were ~£65 when I last had them) and I didnt think they were really much different to the EBC pads.

right, will change the fluid when i do da pads. so. ebc or ktr ?my missus is buying me em 4 my bday!

The KTR Kevlar pads are the EBC black - EBC pad DC959 - they are not even re-branded, so buy whichever ones are the cheapest!

If your doing the pads yourself get a new set of guide pin bolts from Halfords - part no. HFK810 - only 99p and better than using the old ones.

Just fitted Brembo Grooved Discs and Green Stuff Pads to my dynamique! Aint bedded in yet but they are good so far when warm. Cost me £40 though...thinks I got done!

agree, most people poor braking is down to poor condition of brake fluid which absorbs water vapour over time, this leads to a lower boiling point,a nd boiling releases gasses in the lines, leading to a spongy feeling. Pad fade wont feel spongy, itll be more aking to pressing as hard as you can with no increasing braking force.

Mintex 1144 release alot of dust as its an old formula, but its good stuff, and cheap, 65 quid is way over the 30 quid you should be paying.

the KTR Kevlar (EBC Black Stuff) pads are excellent value for money, the only time they have ever let me down was braking from 100 once but i was on em rather hard, think they jus got too hot

got Ferodo DS Performance on now, still givin em time to bed in, they seem pretty good but do produce more dust than the EBC, and do take a bit of warming up, not a lot but more than the EBC black....

for the price of the EBCs you cant go wrong, for normal/fast drivin there fine, i just wouldnt rely on them if you do much braking from 100

oh an they do last ages, ive still got loads of pad left on the ones i took off

I have the Ktec kevlar pads and have found them to be excellent value. Much better bite than oem & alot less dust as well.

Definately recommend them :)
