Local performance garage + Fire

  Clio 182
Took these images from a local forum but really feel for the owner, as he had just set up his own business in the Saltburn area and had his first show 3 weeks from now (Pickering)

Apparently fire started from a grinder which sparked onto a carpet and the flames engulfed the building unfortunatly killing 3 cars...

They're insured it's all good.

Gutting all the same, usually you can contain things pretty quickly.

Yup insurances will sort it out and cars can be replaced, people can't which is the important thing. Hours of work gone into the cars is sickning for the owners aswell as the loss i'd imagine.

f**k having the insurance, I'd rather have my car not on fire. Absolutely gutting for the owners, but then I dont expect everyone to understand or appreciate that.

Gutted :(

Is that a cossie though? Doesn't look like a YB as the Turbo appears to be on the passenger side where the inlet plenum goes :S

Business going tits up. Take anything of value off the cars. Remove expensive tools. Make up some story about a grinder setting fire to a carpet. Money rolls in. All evidence of unpaid bills goes up in smoke. Settle with creditors, rinse and repeat.

I believe the OP said he had just set up the business so pretty unlikely that it was at a stage where he thought torching the place was an option tbh.

Comments as such are a bit uncalled for IMO when its pretty clear that the guy has just set up and this could be the end of his business. Not easy to get back up and running after something like this.

Do a search of local news papers. There are hundreds of fires in garages and on building sites (unfinished flats) during times of financial hardship. Insurance companies are well aware of this statistical fire boom. Even the mainstream press has covered it.

I was half joking about it being an insurance job, i have no idea, but there are many many like this all around the country happening right now that are insurance jobs. I used to know of people who would steal your car and take it down the fields and burn it for 200 quid, after you had sorted out the necessary cover of course. This was liverpool area. I am sure nothing has changed.

I am aware that it goes on but was just stating that in this case the guy had just started up so it is highly unlikely that it was at the stage of torching the place!

definitely not an insurance job as none of the cars were insured. wasn't a business per se, but a unit that 3 guys shared.

absolutely distraught not be able to salvage much at all, everything is lost and destroyed

couldnt beleive it, happened so fast.
i just didnt stand a chance at all within 30 seconds the c2 was engulfed and it just couldnt be stopped.

yea 1st show was 3 weeks today and would of been done. heart broken and il admit that

it was almost complete, would of been finished within 2 weeks.
I literally have lost everything, c2,tools,parts,phone and even the keys i had for my other car (leon) for which i had no spare,
Oh yes im well gutted as u can guess

they were mates cars that share unit with me no one was insured

must be gutting.

why does everyone on this forum think the worst all the time , whenever there is a thread people always seem to put a downer on it , if you dont know it is a insurance job for 100% i dont see why they bother commenting (fair enough if you knew the bloke and knew he did it) , people really need to stop thinking the worst possible reason for something to happen :boring: ,

The guy with the C2 had just had the car featured in a mag. He was then midway through putting ANOTHER V6 in the boot. Was just finishing off his roll cage when the floor caught fire and apparently couldn't contain it.

Can't quite see it being an insurance job tbh.
