Looking at buying a 2002 '52 1.5 DCi Dynamique on 126k - Is It Wise?

  Astra
Hi, new on here after having an accident with my '51 Astra 1.7 DTi

Looking for a change after the astra and my mate has been singing praises of his clio 1.5 DCi 80. One has turned up in a local garage (1.5 DCi 80 Dynamique) that was a local ex-driving schools car and is now on 126k. It does has full service history from renault. The asking price is £3,100, serviced with a years tax and MOT. Test drove it and seems to drive well (brakes are wicked compared to my astra!).

I do around 20k per year (put 33k on my astra in a year and a half!). What are your opinions on me buying this?

Thanks In Advance :D

It was up for £3,300.. didnt want to pay more than £3,000 for it thou really.
What are the engines like at high mileages.. i know my astra one would have gone on to 200k + if its life had not ended early

  1.2 Dynamique billabong
thats well expensive mate, i picked up my 03 plate 1.2 dynamique billabong edition on 43k with 1years warrenty, FSH and MOT for £3300

you'd need to be mad - there's plenty of cars out there for that price with much less mileage.

Seems like everyone is saying the same about this then... what would you be willing to pay for it if you were to buy it?

2K if that.

When you consider that a 54 plate on 24K is worth £4500.

You could prob get an 02 plate dci with low miles for about 3,5K.

I'd personally avoid, alot of cars are good for high milage if on motorways etc but if its been a learner car it will have had some abuse (hill starts, all round town driving etc)

Too much. For that price it should have 90k less miles.

I got a 2003 69k DCI 80 Dynamique with Xenons and Climate for £3800. That was a year and a half ago aswell!

Yeah I wouldn't give more than £1800 for it, i mean how much life has that got left in it at 126k especially with it being a learner car, its not as if that was motorway miles.
You would be a nutter to touch it!
You can't really compare a dci to a 1.2 16v as the dci's are always more expensive, I would say £3.5k should get you a reasonable dci under 70k, private though, sod dealers.

Cheers for all your replies guys...
Think i'll keep looking around and keep my options open.. I'm not sure whether to go renault or stay with my vauxhall's (the astra was my third!).
Might be tempted if i find the right one!

With the potentail costs of injectros and pump going that over priced even if they had been chnaged its still not worth that.

my dci will probably be for sale soon mate.. 54000 miles, 53 plate, billabong model (climate control/autowipers etc)

will let you know

126k!

Its not that much at all must have been a lightly used learner car or only used for a bit they clock up 70k a year easy when used full time. My cars not on that less miles for the same age if you think about it.
