Luke's Arctic Blue 182

Looks really good but needs lowering imo.
Also reason for replying is I spotted this:

Is this a coffee table ? got any pics of it as I have always wanted an F1 wheel table.
Thanks mate. Thats the plan - Turinis next then a set of cooksports once their back in stock

It is indeed, However i dont really use it as a table but instead it sits in the corner of my room as i like the way it looks. I cant remmeber what its from but the guy did say. An old O.Z Magnesium wheel, paid £20 for it at the car boot

Looking slick and shiny in the photos dude! Loving it. Tell me how long it lasts haha, mine lasts all of 2 days and it don't even go anywhere.

Can't quite put my finger on it but something's missing from the front end. I think it's probably the grey insert xenons! Some 172 black ones would be nice. But then again it's such a stupid change for what basically is "the fashion police" hahaha. That or find a place that will unseal them then paint the inserts yourself? Ball ache though

So i kind of gave up on this thread, got pretty bored of it but @sparklesTHEpony has persuaded to to update it so i will as im bored and got about 1 hour free.

Not many pics as i didnt expect to be updating the jobs im doing. But ahh well.

Going a little flocking mad. Have now got A pillars, hazard panel, speaker covers along with handbrake surround, door pulls and mirror covers in the post. Just about to purchase b door pillar covers, dash strips and maybe a few other bits.

Upgraded by speakers/tweeter and all speaker cable. Bought some Infinity components, tweeters and crossovers and already had some vibe speaker cable. Spend pretty much the whole day doing it but all done now and the sounds is much improved

Also whilst i was there i fitted some sound deadening/anti-rattle to the door skins, it makes SUCH a difference, the tone of the door when closing is depeer and more solid, the sound is more contained and no rattles. Just need to update the rear speakers and fit some more sound deadening to the rears and boot floor/boot.

Yesterday i replaced my cat to manifold gasket, it blowed on cold but once warm was fine. Once i removed it it was clear it had been bodged up. 4 washers either side to tighten the gasket. Its not like £19 is much to fix it. All fixed now though.

Also now bought some new genuine top mounts to go with another major mod soon.

On the look out for some turinis, will get them refurbed and fitted. Then a few other bits left which i may update with if i can be particuarly bothered to do so

Awesome dude, I might need your help, also bought an aftermarket speaker and tweeter set up, after market tweeters don't plug and play lol, more long ass wiring I don't know what it connects to hahaha. You're the man I the know as you've already done it

If you haven't already got some with your speaker kit bud, i would strongly recommend getting some crossovers. My wiring goes, speaker to crossover, tweeter to crossover then crossover to headunit. This meant i only had to cut into the original loom once and that was to connect the crossover to the wires that come out the the head unit. Hope that makes sense? if not pm me, am more than happy to give some advice

Update

Today was busy, in the post i recieved my Poor boys Black hole and Hydro2. Tried out the BH and its amazing, looking to give the combo a try as would like to add a better sealant to the car considering the winter months are coming. However got a couple of beading pics from this morning, looked pretty good!

Also got some replacement aero wipers (the unpredictable auto wipers on my car have killed my current ones).

Lots of flocked bits . Mirror covers and handbrake surround are fitted, unfortunatley there was a mix up and my door pulls and 2nd half of the handbrake surround were flocked anthracite instead of black. Should get that sorted soon however, and buy a few more bits whilst im there.

Wheels
The whole looking for a new set of wheels ended up moving really fast. Bought a set of speedline Safari's off @dwissy, and the legend he is also dropped them off to me as he was passing close buy, cheers again for that mate!

Wheels are really nice, got them fitted and run and drive great. Only issue is the car now looks like its on stilts due to the low profile tyres:monkey:😂, not to worry though as will just swap my old tyres over to these. :tongueout:

Planning to somehow add the renault diamond to the centre caps to make them look a little more OEM but overall am over the moon

Yeah dude I'll probably PM you when I get a proper chance to noob my situation out to you haha. I've asked my brother and he's basically just said cut wires off the old plugs and attatch to new however I've read the xcrovers are built into the clios normal tweeter so.. All confusing I'll get there.

Anyway those wheels are looking tidy, agree with the centre caps, will Turini ones fit it? If youre not sure and need some measurements I'll go out and measure the centre caps on mine if need be. Otherwise pry off the diamond on standard sport alloy caps and go from there

Yeah bud no worries, pm me if you need advise or have any issues. Cutting the plugs off the wires will work fine but not if you have crossovers. Upgrading the speaker wire is recommended as well.

Yeah pretty pleased with them mate, not too sure, I measured them and their 60mm, dunno what size turini ones are but considering there is a lack of renault 60mm centre caps on ebay suggests they aren't the same size. Would appreciate if you could measure tho mate. Yeah was thinking that but then wouldn't get as much for the 182 alloys when I sell them

Awesome, I'll pm you at some point. Also is there a site or know of a site where you got your cross overs and sound deadening?

Just took some pics, I wouldn't 100% them for sure but this is what I came out with front and back and what you're looking at. Need any more horizontal / vertical measurements just ask

I got my sound deadening from ebay bud. Was ~£15 for 10 sheets and is really nice stuff. I'll get the link for you. Crossovers came as part of my kit but again you should easily geta set on ebay.

Cheers for the pics mate!, those look like 60mm as well, or maybe 59mm but even so seems like they will work. Need to find a set, theres loads on ebay but their all aftermarket and the renault diamond doesnt come out. Alternativley i can just buy the diamond but dont know how easy it will be to get them perfectly central?

Updateish

Flocked items
Have finally purchased everything i want in my interior to be flocked.
I already have fitted - A pillars, mirror covers, handbrake surround, speaker surround and hazard surround.
In the post - Door pulls, other door strips, dash strips and cup holder all in black

Trying out some new products
Recieved some Poor boys Black hole glaze and it is amazing, cant believe the wet look and shine it goves off, think its becoming my new favourite item.

As i needed to seal the car for the coming winter months, i invested in some Hydro2, it has a stange application process but pretty easy and seals really well, the beading im getting is aswesome. Hopefully should keep the paint protected for a while. Think i will invest in some hydro2 lite instead next time though.

Wheels
Also going to buy 4 turini centre caps as above and spray them the colour of my wheels, shold hopefully make them a little more oem.

Cant decided wether to change to my old tyres or not?, these tyres have loads of tread but make the arch gap ridiculous, dont know if this will be fixed with some lowering springs though or if it will still look a little high

After applying PB BH

Looks proper that does! Shiny in the sun but in the shade a proper slick clean blue  did you use a wax or sealant on top? My new favourite thing to do is to waste products and glaze then seal it with a wax then glaze again lol, the last glaze step won't last long at all but whilst it does.. Once that layer goes I'll be back down to a wax.. Hopefully.

And lol at the part just "falling off" hahaha, typical French cars. Falling apart when stationary

@Luke... Car looks great! Do you have a link for the flocked parts seller? Do you just send yours to them or are they random pre-flocked items for sale? Like the different wheels, makes a change from the others.
Hes on ebay mate, ebay name 'blacksheepflocking'. All his items are flocked to order but he supplies the items. He mostly lists things on auctions at start prices of ~£1 but has a few things on buy it nows

And thanks mate, wanted something that looked oem to a certain extent but a bit different to the normal

Thanks mate, sealed on top with hydro2. Haha, atm i love just randomly trying new products on really small areas and seeing the difference. I dunno if the glaze is protected when you seal it, BH says that you can add a sealant on top of it. We shal see.

And yeah it just randomly fell on the floor 😂😂 think i may need a whole new side windscreen rubber :unamused:

Same as me with trying and buying stuff lol, I'm after chemical guys "wet mirror finish" next but that's for next payday along with even more detailing stuff :tired:

Any scrapyards near you? Plenty of clios in my local one to scavenge parts. Be lucky if you came across a 172 cup in one though

Haha you really went crazy with the detailing buying 😂, im hoping by sealing it it will stop me from buying anything else as i cant use it as the car is sealed. I alos try to one have 1 of each item such as 1 glaze, allows me to decide as im sh*t at making my mind up about things . Yeah mate theres quite a few, not a bad shout actually, might need to go to one soon if i end up swapping my tyres over from my 182 alloyd, cant decide if i should or just leave stick with the low profile ones

Another ish update
Recieved my new boot mat off @Darren61, super quick delivery! Looks really nice and hides my stained boot carpet.

On the other hand booked Wednesday off work to do a bit of work on the car:

Need to work out & fix the unpredictable play in the steering
Fit some new parts that plan to arrive tomorrow
hopefully fit a major mod if it arrives in time
Sort out rattle/speaker upgrade

still undecided on the tyre situation, after driving to work today they are really nice tyres and grip much ebtter than the old ones, but are also quote bumpy.

So the parts that were meant to be arriving today are a set of discs and pads for the front and back. They are second hand but have loads of life left in them and overall the with the savings on second hand it made sense.

Fronts - Brembo grooved and drilled discs with brembo pads
rears - unsure of the make but am pretty sure their OE. Also ordered up some new rear brembo pads and hub nuts off george on here as the used pads were no good.

Gave the centres and edges a lick of paint to stop them rusting. And wire brushed the faces to remove the surface rust from where they had been in storage

Just about to order up some brake fluid then am happy that the brakes up up to spec.
Thinking about changins ball joints and track rod ends just for piece of mind
Exterior i am pretty happy with, just waiting on a reply about 1 last major mod then i think i am done with that

Just about to start ordering the parts i need for the cambelt. Planning to buy it in sections to spread the cost a bit.

To do list as follows:
Fit brakes
Track down play in steering
fit newly aquired flocked bits
gearbox oil

To buy:
Brake fluid
TRE's & ball joints
coolant, thermostat and new coolant bottle whilst im at it
Oil, filter, sump plug washer and maybe a gold plug
aux kit
cambelt kit including dephaser and water pump
renault locking tools

Update
Fitted my new brakes today, had a few issues but overall i got it sorted. I now understand why my brakes were so poor 😂. Need to give it a few miles for the surface rust to come off the discs as they are feeling a little spongy at the moment. Also bought some ATE supegold today from George, so hopefully will fit that this weekend and brakes will be up together.

The car now has:
Fronts - Brembo drilled and grooved discs & Brembo pads
Rear - OEM discs afaik & Brembo pads

Can almost guarantee my wheels will be caked in Brake dust by the time i get to work tomorrow, its already starting and that was just on a test drive :unamused:

Checked my suspension whilst i had the wheel off, no play in everything which is good i guess, but downt answer why i have play in my steering

Also treated the car to a new air freshner as the last one lasted about 4 days .

Had another package as well which contained 3 Turini centre caps. Have test fitted them and they fit perfectly . As you can see in the pics i have removed the yellow diamonds, and started to sand them down. Furthest right is how they arrived and left is ready for paint. Need to get a can mixed up as dont know what colour my wheels are, then go on the look out for 1 more centre cap.

Update
As with most weekends, its the only real time that i can get anything done on the car. Pretty much 2 steps forward 1 step back today.

Brakes
Recieved my order of some ATE supergold of George yesterday. As above, i have recently changed the discs and pads so only made sense to complete the puzzle and do the fluid. Overall the fluid wasnt too bad but might as well change it now as already bought the fluid.

Started with removing the engine cover and using a syringe to take the fluid out of the master cylinder. Made use of my new £12 light as i couldnt see sh*t in the engine bay

Then a couple of pics from the process and the fluid i removed. Luckily all went pretty smoothly, was a little concerned about the bleed nipples but they unscrewed fine.

Centre caps
As you may or most probably not read from above, got 3 turini centre caps that i planned to fit onto my new wheels to make them look more oem. The main hurdle was matching the paint, the seller didnt know what colour they were but i for some reason i dont know had a can of Rover metallic grey in the garage which turns out is only VERY slightly darker of a shade than the wheels so i used that. Finished spraying them yesterday but i couldnt secure them to the new wheels so just got the hot glue gun out and stuck them on. They definatley aren't going anywhere and look much imroved to me.

Handbrake
I noticed the other day when i had to stop when going up a steep hill that when i put my handbrake on i still roll down the hill 😂. So i looked into how to tighten it and how much and was told the handbrake should be fully on at 4 clicks, well mine was on at 9 😂. So i tightened that, not very exciting tbh but it is another thing i did to the car.

Cambelt
I also started purchasing parts for the cambelt job :unamused:. Recieved my order of some new coolant for when i do the waterpump. In the post and on its was to me also is:

Some Elf engine oil - for when i do the dephaser
Sump plug & washer
New coolant bottle
Oil filter

That just leaves the big ones. Cambelt kit, aux kit and renault tools. WIll buy all this once i have sold my 182 alloys.

Also gave the car a quick going over with some QD just to remove some dust and water marks. The sealant is doing its job as normally the car is filty after a week of backroads to work, but this week it was suprisingly clean.

Tomorrows job is to test fit my sub back i the boot, i haven't re-fitted it since i removed it from my 1.2 as i love the boot space too much but i do really miss the extra bass it gives. May invest in a under the seat subwwoofer but cant find a 2nd hand one anywhere.

On a side note i have had a few deliverys, starting to build a bit of a selection of stuff. Most for my cambelt. Phoned insurance today to get a quote on adding a modification and its pretty reasonable so full steam ahead with that idea. May phone up again and see about buckets and harnesses but i may hold out till renewal to do that.

I feel like i want a gold plug now instead of a standard sump plug though. Just about to buy the tools as i have found a set and the cambelt kit is easier to get hold of than the tools.

Cant make my mind up on my new knob . Dont know if i should fit it or not, i mean winter is coming and its gonna be chilly. Or maybe spray it black to make it more subtle, i dunno .

Decisions, decisions

Gutted at the kerbing! Got any pics with your trims on? May need to invest myself.

I'm liking that gear knob, don't paint it, shiz will just flake and chip and look terrible.

Props to doing everything yourself. Only thing I can do is change an air filter hahaha

Yeah mate its annoying 😞, worst case i will just change it for my spare though. The bus drivers near work are kn*bs and drive in the middle of the road, so its either curb the wheel or scratch the side of the car up. Not yet mate no, says you need to wait approx 72 hours before driving at high speeds so going to do it tomorrow as wont be going anywhere in the car over the weekend. I would suggest it mate, their a little expensive but cheaper than a refurb 😂.

Haha ok mate will just leave it as is, thought black with loads of layers of lacquer should look good, dunno.

Thanks bud, kind of looking forward to changing it. Did it on my 1.2 so hopefully will be fine, just take my time. Will be ordering the rest of the kit up at them end of the month then get cracking

Liking your yellow hose covers man, may invest in some myself but dont realy have a theme colour to choose from

Up to you mate, I think it'll go well with the car (gear knob) black would look good but I can see it flaking off lol

And thats the joy of a blank canvas! (Hose covers) I've seen some good blue on blue ones going off.

Now i think of it yeah the silver would match the silver on the badges, but the whole interior (ie. dash strips) are going black flock if he ever does dispatch them. So dont know if it would look a little strange it being the only silver bit. I'll fit it and if i change my mind i will take it off and paint it.

Yeah blue on blue would look good, im finding it difficult what i can do insurance wise. Such as wanting to polybush my dogbone but dunno if i need to tell insurance as a modification

On the other hand, i got home from work today expecting at least 1 parcel, but nah nothing car related :unamused:. Waiting on 1 parcel which the seller has already had to resend as RM lost it, looks like they lost this one as well (or hes lying).

Cambelt tools are now purchased . Got the rest of it totaled up and planning to pay for that next friday. Cant wait!

Tomorrows plans:
May need to bleed one of the rears again as brake pedal is a little spongy
Wash and fit the 'Trim4rims
Fit 'le knob'
Kind of want to clean and seal arch liners as their pretty filthy
Check over suspension to see if i need to refresh anything. Dont want to pay ~£60 on TRE's, anti roll bar bushes and ball joints if they dont need it.

Car looks good!

When fitting the flocked A Pillars, how did you get around the interior alarm sensors?
Thanks man!

I've heard people have alarm sensors where the wire goes through the a pillar but mine had the mounts screwed to said pillar then the wire going round the side so was just a case of unscrewing it from the old one and screwing it to the new one

Update

As with pretty much every saturday it involves an update in this thread.

Fitted my new knob, love the way it feels:wink:. So glad i did it now as so much easier as i found the old one a little to big so going into reverse was a bit of a pain. The old one was anightmare to get off, on my old 1.2 it just came straight off but on the 182 i had to bring out the hacksaw. This did mean i ended up hoovering the interior which is always a good thing. Still cant decide whether to spray it black.

After which i then proceeded to wash the car as needed to clean my wheels to fit my trims4rims. They were pretty simple to fit and no only did they cover up the curbing but they arent too noticable :tongueout:

@sparklesTHEpony Fitted them mate, simple to do but if you do get a set I would suggest slightly jacking up the wheel when doing so so that you can turn the wheel or with the wheel not on the car as was a little difficult fitting them neatley when working upside down.

MUCH more importantly, i have now paid for the mod that was on the hush hush... Arriving soon are a set of cooksports to get rid of the stupid arch gap :grin:. Along with fitting them i will fit some new top mounts as pictured earlier in the thread and might as well refresh the suspension whilst im there.

Tomorrows job:
Re-bleed the brakes

Cambelt soon!

Awesome work mate. Love how stuck in you're getting! inspired me to clean mine now actually, in a bizzle!
Thanks mate, got nothing better to do so might as well spend all my time/money in the car. Tbh I Prob wouldn't have cleaned it if I wasn't fitting my trims as takes forever, but do love the way it looks after its clean . How's the buckets treating you mate? Was debating investing in a set as the original seats offer pretty much no support as you Probably know.

Managed to get mine done woo haha

Yeah they are honestly incredible! So so comfy too even doing 70 miles a day. With th harnesses it's a totally different kettle of fish to the normal seats.

Excellent work on the car mate  I'm waiting on a few flocked bits and the same richbrook gearknob haha where did you get the engine bay dress up bolts ? And can I get them in black ? Keep up the good work I'll be keeping an eye on this

Thats all i needed to hear, definatley investing in a set when funds allow. Clubsports seem to be the popular choice and tbf do look the best. Saw on CSOC your taking yours off the road, why so?

Thanks mate! Im loving the flocked bits, been having issues with the last order but think its all sorted now. I bought the dress up bolts from a member on the FB groups, he was making a few sets up but they were the last he was making. He may still have a few sets left over so more than happy to ask, were a bargin as well. Do you have a project thread?

Updateish

Have bought some track rod ends and ball joints from ECP as they had an offer on. Might as well refresh the suspension whilst im removing the springs. Just need to order up ARB bushes and steering rack bushes to complete the suspension upgrade really.

Also just paid for some Samco coolant hoses :grimacing:. Can fit them when i do cambelt as will be draining the coolant for the water pump anyway

Keep looking into buckets and harnesses atm, really shouldnt as am no where near financially ready to buy them yet and still got way to much to do on the car still 😞

Starting to build up a collection of suspension parts, so far i have New track rod ends, ball joints, Renault top mounts along with Renault steering rack bushes on the way, just need ARB bushes now to complete the refresh. Only waiting on the key element which is the cooksports but Yodel are failing at the simplest tasks as they always do :unamused:

In the box in the top right of the pic is a replacement rear caliper that i can use to scavenge parts off to sort mine out.

On the other hand i have recieved my Samco coolant hoses :grin: At no point did i plan on investing in a set but managed to pick these up for £20 second hand and whilst im changing my water pump i thought i might as well change the hoses to these. Have started to clean them up and they are coming up great . Going to be a nice touch to the engine bay.

+1 to Yodel suck. Had to collect my parcel from the depot in the next friggin city as they failed to deliver to my house after TWO weeks! Absolute bunch of mothsarffashjknvv2.. Gonna stop before I unleash the serious hate.

Hoses looking awesome and bargain! Some reason I chose the hardest colour to come by and can only get them new at near £200 😢

Will away the completed and fitted look

Haha, i literally dont know how a company as big as them can cause so many problems. i had issues with them and chose never to use them again, on the bright side though they did actually collect the cooksports yesterday so they may be a slim chance i may get them today!

I was gonna see if you wanted them mate as i knew you wanted a set but would be pointless as they are red. Im pretty pleased with the price paid, will make a nice touch when you open the bonnet.

update

Really cant be bothered to do this update, becoming pointless but this needs to be added to the thread so i can link it when i come to sell the car.

Cambelt tools arrived

Went to ASDA today to buy a TV and saw they had tyre foam on offer at £4 so picked up a can as a just incase for if i get a puncture.

On the weekend i fitted Cooksports, Genuine new top mounts, Track rod ends and ball joints.
Pile of new stuff:
