Megane R26

Car  M135i and the shed
Further to this thread:

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=338097&page=1

I turned the Clio back standard and moved back to a Megane, although this time an R26.

So here it is. I'm well on my way with this one (spent far too much on it since i bought it!) and reckon it'll be a keeper.

I'll be at FCS with Megsport.net so say hello if you're about.

Cheers

Chris

Love it mate, hoping to grab a set of the .R wheels for my R26 aswell but need tyres first ! What you think of the Vredestein ?

Stunning!

Went to look at one exactly the same over the weekend.

Cheers gents. Vreds are very good. Probably comparable to the PS2's which were on it originally in the dry, but slightly better in the wet. Also a fair bit cheaper as well! :)

Next week? Once FCS is out the way and when TDK is back on British shores, we'll get some snaps if you've got time? Presume you know some decent locations?

Bout to order a set of the tyres for my R so im taking your word that they are good and worth the £400 lol !!

Cheers people. Kind comments. It's taken a while to get it looking like that. One of those cars that has more modifications that it appears on first inspection!

Vred's are well worth the £100 a corner compared to the competition mate, althought the Hankook V12's are decent as well. :)

christ must be like 542 years since you were last on here.

awesome 26... my favourite.

I know! I've been lurking and keeping my eye on things since the 197 went but thought i should really post a bit more!

Love it mate the wheels, suit it so much.

Any other small plans for it?

Plenty of plans yeah. First plan is to get a new intercooler on it and get a new hard pipe set made up. Then Forge's new uprated re-circ valve.

Looking to get a few more parts from Streamline Carbon done, then it'll be braided line, fluid, pads and possibly a disc upgrade, although i may just go with the standard drilled items. Need to consider my options first.

Other than that, it'll probably get uprated injectors and Stage 2 mapping at some point i reckon. Will probably need to start considering uprated clutches by that time i'd imagine.

I'm not really in a rush, and it's not my daily driver, so will just get bits done when the cash flow allows.

Um, not at the minute, but hoping to get a few done over the FCS weekend. It's quite fruity considering it's forced induction. :)

Happy with that Riad. You're the expert!

I know Naith was after some tracking shots of TDK on the move. Maybe we could find a quite spot and we can use mine as the camera car?

Cool mate! Do the same for your car as well! :)

Great stuff. I don't think i have any pics of it takn by anyone decent so will be good to see what you can do mate.

Just thought i'd update this as a fair bit has happened since i put up the initial post.

First up was an uprated DV from Forge. Cracking bit of kit and the usual top quality machining from Forge.

Other than that the car went in for a 6k oil change. Went for Castrol Edge for the engine oil, Fuchs Sinterfluid for the gearbox and Motul RBF600 for the brake fluid.

Following that my Pace FMIC arrived:

Got all that fitted. Intake temps were much more consistent with the Pace FMIC and it's refusal to heat soak is pretty impressive. The re-circ seems decent also (although a complete tart to fit) as i'm now achieving 1.25Bar in 4th under load, where as i used to only achieve anything near that in 6th. Worth the cash, even though the mounting bolts Forge supply are completely retarded.

My carbon mirrors finally arrived after that and were duly fitted.

Following that, i decided the brakes had expired so ordered up some new drilled discs, CL RC5+, RBF600 and some Goodrich braided line. I bobbed down to the guys at Birchdown who sorted it all out whilst i sat and worked on my laptop. Top gents and an epic brake set-up for fast road imo.

Following that, i ordered a rear upper strut bar from CMC

I was chuffed as (although it's not massively functional) my car now looked a bit less like a van. Job done. :)

Following that, my CF rear spoiler, mirrors and carbon coloured handles finally arrived. My 'amateur-hour' photography doesn't do them any favours; thankfully they all look better in real life. Handles were temporary until my real carbon one's arrive.

CF handles then finally arrived after a mega long wait. Worth it though imo.

Then finally got round to fitting them and taking a few snaps:

I then had a wee trip to RS tuning for a Briskoda/Total Vauxhall Rolling Road Day.

Decided to pop the Meg on the rollers as it's not been done on a Dyno Dynamics. Graph below. Turns out he's a strong 'un. :)

273bhp and around 290ft/lb achieved in the end on Stage 1. Really surprised with how well it holds power up high in the rev range. No doubt a benefit of the Forge re-circ. :)

And then finally the most recent update which is the fitment of my harnesses. A MASSIVE THANKYOU to Sir_Dave for assisting me and answering my numerous, largely stupid, questions. Top gent.

Ended up going for Schroth Clubman 4 points.

Also disconnected the seatbelt beeper so that won't go off when i'm using the harnesses. Well chuffed with the outcome.

I might consider painting the floor of the car black as you can see quite a bit of the floor through the holes and i like things to look as OEM as possible. :)

Also did a bit of housekeeping and installed a fresh set of mats.

It's been a busy period but thought i should update my progress

I'm now in long term saving mode for a few more expensive mods (i.e. KW V3's).

Cheers for looking.

Looking Fantastic mate, keep up the good work.

I have a massive soft spot for Red cars aswell.

Bloody lovely. One of the nicest ive seen. Please mount your harnesses higher though! You could cause yourself more damage in a accident with them like that. Mount them to the brace.
