Mk1 F16 conversion q's

  Suzuki Swift Sport
1.2 Mk1 phase 3 clio ---> 1.8 16v Valver engine. F16 not F1 as in the title, lol

Do the mounts have to change? Is is a case of cutting off the originals and welding on the Velver ones?
Searching around i hear the 1.2 clio ones are the same but i not sure if they are strong enough.

Would the DriveShafts be a different lenth?

I could do the conversion at work. To save time i presume i could fit the 16v brakes and suspension first then fit the engine at a later date?

p.s - i have been searching loads, just need these few snippets of info then im ready start,

The old mounts unbolt the new one boltonto the old mounts positions.

Not sure if there the same chnage them anyway.

Driveshafts are fine I'd chnage them though the vlaver ones are stronger and Renault did this for a reason.

No point trying to do it in bits realy though. Valver suspension is 54mm if your hubs are 54mm then it will fit but it doesn't take long extra to fit and since its speced for a 1.8 engine why stick it on if you don't have an engine of the same weight.

Re: Mk1 F1 conversion q's

I'm not sure if the engine mounts from yours would fit or not, I belive they fit from the 1.2 energy engine, but with yours being a ph3 I would think it would be a diet engine and I don't know about them. As edde says though the valver ones will just bolt on though.

If it was me I would probably do it in stages like you mentioned - but really it all depends on time/facilities availiable. Driveshafts would fit from the 1.2 and could be used. As edde says you would be better with the valver shafts, but personally I wouldn't be too worried about using the 1.2 shafts.

Re: Mk1 F1 conversion q's

I have the option of using the workshop at work, i asked today and they said yes:D

I am only able to do it on a sat afternoon, 12.30 untill 5.
This is why i was thinking of doing the suspension one sat then fitting the engine the next sat.

If i could get some help of another mechanic then i am sure we could do the lot in a day.

I will be fitting a Timing belt when the engine is out and if i can find somewhere to work on the engine before hand then i would like to do some work to it before it goes in,

Space space space, I wish i had a garage.

Thanks very much for the avdice, I just needed to know so i can get it all ready so i can get the car in and out in a day,

:D
