Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Ok....so set off at 6.30am this morning for Whiteleys, as Daz had offered to weld the cage in for me...
The aim was to get the footplates in....along with the main hoop, main rear stays, rear diagonal, front a-pillars, screen bar and door bars. Due to a few problems with the profiling of the door bars, they were left for the time being, but the rest is now in
The parts...
Main hoop footplates first...
Then the main hoop welded to the footplates...
Then the rear stays...
Rear stays fitted, front footplates and bars fitted...
Last we fitted the rear diagonal and the screen bar...
We didnt manage to do the door bars, as the profiles on the pipes were not good enough, plus I want to change the positioning slightly, so that will be sorted shortly...
Still to fit are the harness bars, lower rear stays, and door bars as mentioned above. Will hopefully get this done in the week!
The car feels so much stiffer and 'together', coming from driving it without a cage for 8k miles or so, track and road! The test will be Cadwell a week on monday, to see what real difference its made..
Im sure Whiteley will contribute some pictures in here at some point...
More soon!
