Mk1 Golf in brief so far

I used the guide on the mk1 forum for the S1 fuse box and wiring... sadly it does not cover the engine or lighting loom but thats just a case of laying it out over the engine and working out where things go.

A few things need extending.. the oil presure sensor wire being one and you might need a plug from a polo for the water temp sensor.. Your wiring will be the same as mine.
I was dreading mine as I just had boxes and boxes of looms from different cars.. Im down to just the engine loom left to fit, will be tackling that soon with the help of my mate.

i need to have it running my next weekend as that was the deadline my dad set me to have it off his drive way lol, as soon as the wirng is done its going to be a half day job to get it ready enough for a mot... then obviously it will fail its 1st mot... fully expected but at least ill have a to do list... i also now have one side of the car that i can see out of as i spent most of yesterday with a razor blade scraping the various colours of overspray off the windows lol

well last night i spent 2 hours taking the helper spring out one side of the front suspension. and out half the propper poly bush kit in.. tbh it will probably do feck all but thought it was better than just having the strut top right on the top mount.
but now its 6mm higher on that side ... doh
oh well, ill do the other side tonight n see how i feel, better to try it now that when its all covered in gunk and tight.

im aiming for end of next week. this weekend i plan to have everything bar the engine wiring done.
all under sealed, bolt checked etc etc
then hopefully at somepoint the engine fairy will come and sprinkle some magic dust
and she shall be alive..i fullly expect it to fail its 1st MOT tho

swaped back to standard orange lenses .. i likes
under sealed .. missed a bit, didnt realise.. but you get the idea lol

sooo ive decided to fit porsche vdo guages in the standard cd/radio port thingy slot. then fit the radio in the ash tray slot... not wired in or fitted by a long shot but gives the impression... and i just wanted to see if it would all fit lol

after couple of hours of faffing with the gear linkage after fitting a 5 speed box i realised here was the problem.. need new parts and then ill have all gears... rather than 1-5 or 1-4 and reverse lol

How you getting on?
Arun came over last night and we tied up a few loose ends. need new rotor arm for the dizzy, ordered new dizzy cap and HT leads, along with a new batttery. Just need some wire connectors and a battery tray, then we can attempt to start ..

ive just been through every page of this thread. What an epic epic journey. Top marks for doing a lot of teh work yourself, i know i couldnt do it.

im going to swap the units around see if its that. rear fog light doesnt work but i think thats because the wire isnt connected to anything at the fuse box... must find the home for that. also the handbrake warning light.. same thing lol
the fans... no idea they should work, they are off the same loom as the 12v socket and that works perfect.
hopefully the fuel line peices and water pipe will arrive this week then its time to go go go.. or not as im sure the case will be

just little things like all the new replacement waterpipes are pissing out water, needing new door nd window surrounds.
the things that i need now i cannot do simply, i have no help im thinking i should cut my losses now. im pretty close to tears even thinking this but i honestly cant see any other way now
