Mk2 ph1 - My first clio

  Clio Mk2 PH1 1.2
Hello!

I'm new too these parts...

I've got a Renault Clio 1.2 :)() Mk2 Ph1.

I've done a few things to it already, this is just sort of a progress list.

I will upload pics, when I find my camera.

Things I've done:

  • Lowered 35-40mms
  • Did have a set of 15" BSA Arrakis on there, but are being professionally restored and resprayed gloss black. So currently riding on Momo - Arrows
  • Supersprint exhaust.
  • has an aftermarket airfilter (unknown brand) I've got a green-cotton one isit worth putting on?
  • Black Tints
  • New windscreen, due to a crash. (Does this count lol?)
  • Lexus style lights
Things that need doing:

  • Somebody beat up the passenger side with a hammer, planning on getting a new door, filling and spraying the back panel.
  • New front bumper, got cut up and ended up plummeting into a lorry trailer.
  • New windscreen trim, same reason as above...
  • Better engine (Could I do a transplant of a 1.8 16v? -mk1)
  • I know it's a little thing, but changing the side indicator covers to clear smoked.
Will list more things that need doing as I remember!

Thanks for looking,
Dan.

definately dont bother with spending money on an engine swap or power mods. cost and insurance would work out better on a genuine RS

shame about the door business, that'd be priority #1 for me :(

To insure it was £2600, 3rd party as well. Soo I think if I did declare an engine swap it would be about £6M lol!

Right, i've been away for a while, due to family stuff etc. But i've got a few updates:

It all started with buying a set of foggys off ebay then I went a bit OTT:

  • New passenger door
  • New Front bumper
  • New windscreen trim
  • New set of number plates - still same reg but they were a bit tatty...
  • Green cotton air filter
  • Also in a bidding war for a Renault 5 GT Turbo Engine.
  • Planning on getting a set of Coil-overs
Also currently looking for a set of BBS RS's, or replicas....

I haven't put any of this stuff on yet, so I will get pics tonight, so you can see the before and after.

Adiós,
Dan.

I'd say get a set of phase 2 rear lights.

I actually like those momo alloys! I'd keep them and get them painted up anthracite/gun metal
Set of dual optics and that would be sweet!

Good plans and progress so far

Cheers, I've got my original set of alloys coming back next week at some point, these:

but now in a very glossy black. I'll then send this set off to get restored, but keep them standard as apparently there quite rare nowadays

UPDATE:

So me and my brother fitted a new grille front bumper & foggys. He refeers to the RN badge as Really Nasty. He calls my car Renault Clio Really Nasty. He is a bad-man.

What a monumental waste of money. What have you done to deserve that premioum, or are you living in a demilitarised zone?

Seconded that, surely you could have got a better quote :S theyve caught you with your pants down at over £2.5k!

Anyway on the up side the progress is looking good :) not a fan of the lexus lights or chrome plate surround though :rasp: momo alloys look very very nice, id keep them on there and sell on the ones you got refurbed :)

Bit of an update with this, I wrote off the car. Bent the subframe and chassis. Booooo...

In regards to the insurance question, that was the best quote I could get was shopping for months. I wanted my own policy without anyone else on it.

I've got a new one arrive soon, completely standard, so I'll make a new thread...

Well, after managing to pile a 1.2 clio, you've pretty much guaranteed a full-scale raping for your next one.

And, all things equal, don't bother wasting time, effort and money on any more y0! modz.... especailly that bit about stuffing an R5GTT lump in its nose.

The ground was soaked and I think the power steering cut out, either way I hit a curb, snapped the passenger lower arm and bent the subframe and so on...
