Modifying coilovers from a 182 to 172 cup?

What are the two hole offsets and will it be a simple case of slotting the holes?

Has anyone tired this, will anything dodgy come of it? I'm thinking of opening the hole out so that a rocker washer can be slotted into place. The same as the AST Sporline 2 units... Comments please

i am sure someone possibly JMS said that "if it was that easy why didn't everyone do it so coilovers to fit cup packed 182's", personally i thought it would work but i am no mechanical engineer!

take them to an engineering firm should be able to sort it.

a non cup 182, and a 172 cup should be the same. It's only the cup pack 182 thats an issue

Yup, it's off a cup pack 182 Milled slots ok or woth doing something similar to the new AST ones?

what coilovers are they? being cup packed they'd probably sell quite easily and you could just get some that fit

AST sportline 1. We currently have some GAZ gold (i think) on our new track toy but not 100% sure if they will cope as well as the AST's. We loved the setup of the AST's so might put them on the 172cup after our first track day. Just researching into the idea if it came to it.

Quick background info incase you are confused lol. The AST's are currently on my 182, the gaz are on our track car. If after the track day we are not happy with the GAZ, we might take the AST's off my car as I'm putting it back to standard. We could buy a new set but thats a good £1300, if we used mine then thats free

ok, well the Gaz setup is hideous for road and track, so just get rid of those and buy another set for the track car
