Gearbox weep has been eating away at me and I had to crumble and do something. It's really, really fucked me off

20220708_181715.jpg

It's coming out of the end cap so I tightened down the 3x13mm which I managed to nip slightly. Gave everything a spray down and wipe and it didn't weep for the 15 mins I was sat there

20220708_185001.jpg

Chucked the cardboard of shame under there

20220708_190320.jpg

Sorted another annoyance whilst waiting for the box to weep. The corner of my Fabia splitter has been coming away for the past 2 years, stuck some more self tappers in there

20220708_185009.jpg

Then chopped it slightly because that was then doing my head in🤣

20220708_185145.jpg

Tiny bit of oil around the arch liner too

The PBS pads have really started to howl now too, when I get them hot they put me through the windscreen!

  Twingo 133 Cup,
Some good work kyle. I realy should do what you have done and take a week off and do all the s**t and bits that are stashed away. My old puma used to lift the rears off the floor lol.

That leaks a pisser on the gearbox end cap, they sometimes go pourous with rust, still available new from ren iirc.

That sawcut in splitter was making my ocd go wild  looks so much better cut to length

Aye I've got a brand new end cap, I just didn't put it on because I forgot like a mong🤣🤣

This is promising though, card was under there for a good 14 hours and not a single drop. Must have just needed the end cap nipping because that was bone dry too. Still gonna see what happens when it gets warm

Still leaking, selector seal is weeping ffs

Gonna f**king send it and just top the box oil up at dinnertime on Saturday. f**king pissed off is an understatement considering the c**t has got to come back out for a f**king £10 seal. Will have to put a nappy on it this week in the form of an undertray

That’s very annoying considering the seal and bushes were replaced! That’s the joys of leaving something sat around for years. I bet the seals gone hard.

Mines the same Kyle. I need to get the s**t out and to Mark. Just putting it off as I know I’ll want a dig at the same time

To put a good spin on my thread again

I got my track wheels out, last time I used them was CSF19... 3 years ago!!😳 Had to clean the mating faces of the wheels, I was a 22 year old thick as mince tit back then. Powdercoat needed the Milwaukee die grinder and a wire wheel sorted them

Before

20220709_143848.jpg

After

20220709_144313.jpg

Gave them a good clean because I've not washed them since then too🤣

20220709_153611.jpg

Rest of my wheels were put away bar the TD's and the AR1s. Gonna get the AR1 fitted this week and test fitment

20220709_153811.jpg

Started getting my spares and tools ready for CSF too. Opening my tool chest made me realise how far I've come with tools over the past 3 years too. There were some proper w**k tools in my Stanley box🤣

Even though the selector seal is quite drippy it wont lose much. My old Kangoo was the same, when i topped it up occasionally it took hardly nothing, just monitor it and if it ends up being a gusher time to fix

Itll be fine mate, if your worried check it before setting off. Defo wont need to top up at Blyton if it stays the same.

Few more bits done today

Test fit the Team Dynamics

20220711_101456.jpg

Very very tight. Don't fit with the wheel weights 😬🤣

Thankfully when I got the AR1 fitted none of the wheels needed weights on the outside of the barrel. What an absolute winner, no need to shave the calipers yet then. Wheels look so good and meaty. I've no idea what tyre dressing @Stefan. used but it turned my hands black bright🤣

20220711_181126.jpg

Next on the list, replace the old PBS pads on the rear. Gave it a good clean up whilst in there

Before (this was the other side but the NS was much the same)

20220711_142319.jpg

After. The Milwaukee die grinder has really early it's keep!

20220711_141307.jpg

The old pads were shagged and had started to delaminate like the fronts had

20220711_145731.jpg

Need to bed them in still. A couple of other jobs I tackled was fitting the undertray

20220711_103433.jpg

Flocked upper dash in

20220711_105636.jpg

Fitted the footrest @colesy sent me. Like a r****d I removed the plastic part and just fitted the alloy bit thinking it was a replacement. After it annoying me for 2 years I'm finally happy it's not spinning and getting in the way of the clutch pedal🤣

20220711_094119.jpg

Then had the alignment done at Atec-Align. It was that far off it didn't read on the gauges so Chong eyeballed it first and then set it afterwards. For an 18 year old car everything is spot on. Probably need to shim the rear beam to sort the toe. -2.11⁰ camber and -0.06⁰ toe out

Tomorrow is another day so will start ticking the last bits off my list

Aye been a busy past few weeks but I want the car to be in a good position for CSF. 2 years missed because of covid so this one should be mega!

This is my list for tomorrow and Wednesday.

  • Harnesses drill and attach lap harnesses
  • New sunstrip
  • Polish headlights and ceramic coat
  • Wash
  • Clean inside
  • Clean engine bay
  • Machine polish single stage
  • Liquid Wax and sealant
  • Bed in DS1.11 on new discs
  • Make cambelt guard on arch
Should have most of it done tomorrow apart from the machine polish, I'll plan that for Wednesday so I have a good day of chilling with headphones on

Nice tight fit there with the brembo and TD, same as mine. I had a 20 micron gap when test fitted mine but that was bolts only hand tight. Will gain a little once torqued up. I did however shave mine down with a lapping wheel on a grinder just to give that little extra space.

I had the weights placed on the inner part of the barrel but still shaved them down just for peace of mind. I'm only running 3mm spacers.

Was too hot to machine polish it so sacked that off.

Put a new sunstrip on, sanded and polished the headlights, cleaned my engine bay, cleaned the car inside and out and then painted my washer blanks again as they looked a bit cack

Old sunstrip off, it looks so w**k without one🤣

20220713_101119.jpg

New sunstrip on, not perfect but loads better than the old one. Wet sanded the headlights 800,1000,1500 and 2000 grit

20220713_114541.jpg

Polished using Meguiars Plast-X and then some SRP

20220713_120500.jpg
20220713_115657.jpg

Coated the hard plastics in Gtechniq C4

20220713_132901.jpg
20220713_133552.jpg

Washer blank before

20220713_141542.jpg

Washer blank afterwards, not perfect but I'm not that arsed

20220713_145546.jpg

Gave the headlights a good iso wipe and then some Gtechniq crystal serum light

20220713_145623.jpg

Then gave the inside a good clean to make it nice enough for passengers
