not as good as if you was to do it mate the af stuff dont seem to have the cutting power it needs tbh.How much for a detail Dave
Honestly never used the af kit but it doesn't get rave reviews.Have a look on polished bliss at the scholl polishesnot as good as if you was to do it mate the af stuff dont seem to have the cutting power it needs tbh.

what do you use now mate?Yeah i didnt have great success with the AF revive kit. One of the pads broke away whilst I was using it too!
yeh im being a tad tight atm as i want coilovers and exhaust first so will keep the std grille black until i have the fundsGrills look much better, but the best option is putting on the official aero ones.
Why are you ruining it?had ago at plasi dipping today i failed as forgot to degresse first lol. will look good once done properly tho i think
ill most likly end up with stripes back but not white ones. same as with the clios end of the day things have been tried and tested some work some dont removing spots is a std thing to do as is black grilles so on so onWhy are you ruining it?
It went from clean and oem to 'oh look, a chavvy mini' in one post.
Stripes I'm fine with, black grilles are iffy as!ill most likly end up with stripes back but not white ones. same as with the clios end of the day things have been tried and tested some work some dont removing spots is a std thing to do as is black grilles so on so on
or h&r im looking at tein seem to be a little lower. minitorqe say coilovers or nothing lol im loving how the car is so dont wanna change 2 much hench me thinking about springs. Are they the go to springs?
cheers for the heads up mate im going to give the tein springs a try as i will dit myslef worst case ill sell on when funds allow as the guy with the ap coilovers has gone silent on me. the wheels and tyres are staying for while as the tyres a pzero and like new so ill get some use out of them.DO NOT BUY JUST SPRINGS
There is a reason everyone on Minitorque says simply buy coilovers, the standard dampers cannot cope with any type of lowering, so simply hit the bump stops all the time (think Fiat 500 Abarth). Rich fitted eibachs to mine when he first got it, swiftly switched to FK coilovers, then to Meister R's, which are still on it 8 years later. Do it properly, once. If you ignore some of the boll0cks on MT, the background underlying info is very very good, literally everything has been tried on there at some point.
In terms of ride quality, the AP's are pretty soft, so will improve it if anything, especially if combined with non-run flats and removal of the standard 17's for something that weighs less than 3 tons per corner

well im going to give them a go yeh. been talking to a guy on r53 addicts who is using them and loves them. Ill give them a go nothing to lose imoI'm confused - you've just read the above but are still going to waste your money?
Its entirely up to you naturally, but i think you'll be disappointed.cheers for the heads up mate im going to give the tein springs a try as i will dit myslef worst case ill sell on when funds allow as the guy with the ap coilovers has gone silent on me. the wheels and tyres are staying for while as the tyres a pzero and like new so ill get some use out of them.
Lol. I thought that.I'm confused - you've just read the above but are still going to waste your money?
its a risk im willing to take tbf. as its not massive money and worst case sell them on im going to try most likely at my own expence lolLol. I thought that.
its a facebook group mate. im going to have a go with the teins ill let you say i told you so if they are crap lol. moneys a tad tight and was sort of banking on the used set but things happen so a diffrent route while i build the car pot up again. im not ignoring your advise btw just willing to give them ago based on the guys first hand reviewIts entirely up to you naturally, but i think you'll be disappointed.
I've driven mine on springs on track (Llandow) & it was awful, understeer central, the ride on the road was poor and the suspension travel on Wales' bumpy roads was simply lacking. It was worse than on the OEM setup, which bar height, isnt that bad i dont think, at least the components have aged/are matched together. New harder springs & older soft dampers just isnt a combo that is any good for anyone.
Also, when the front strut pinch bolt snaps when you're onto the last corner of the car and you need to go off & buy a new hub, just to fit sh1tty springs, please remember me lol. They are stretch bolts btw, so dont what ever you do re-use them, or well, they'll snap!!
What is this R53 Addicts btw, i thought i was on all the Mini forums globally 😂 ...
AP's are fairly cheap from Orranje if you do change your mind btw: https://orranje.co.uk/mini-generati...oilovers-mini-r50-r52-r53-r55-r56-r57-r58-r59
Oh right, yeah i dont do facebook car groups, the r****d always tends to be a bit strong in them 🙈its a facebook group mate. im going to have a go with the teins ill let you say i told you so if they are crap lol. moneys a tad tight and was sort of banking on the used set but things happen so a diffrent route while i build the car pot up again. im not ignoring your advise btw just willing to give them ago based on the guys first hand review
hahaha ill see if this guy comes back to me with the ap coilovers before i buy anything anyway cheers mate. BMW only for the pinch bolt?Oh right, yeah i dont do facebook car groups, the r****d always tends to be a bit strong in them 🙈
Will be interesting to see how you get on then, if i ever fix mine & you're down here you're more than welcome to have a drive
Yeah, might as well, Cotswold BMW on Minitorque will give you a good price im sure:hahaha ill see if this guy comes back to me with the ap coilovers before i buy anything anyway cheers mate. BMW only for the pinch bolt?
yeh mate i have been thinking on it today tbf might just wait until somthing pops up. one of the i want lows now moments do these look battered to anyone else abit of a drive away but im heading sort of that way anywayYour mental
Your taking the advice of one person who's had these tein springs fitted which can't be that decent as I've never heard of them being mentioned on any mini forum normally HR or eibach are the go to options if HAS (it shouldn't be an option at all) to be springs, against pretty much the entire forum on minitorque and even Dave who has given you the best advice going!
Don't waste your money at all, you say money is tight then don't buy the springs! Its simple they will ruin the car. I've been in plenty of minis with every type of setup and even had eibachs on a R52 cooper and believe me there shocking, stock suspension just cannot handle it especially older shocks that have done a number of miles.
