looks like a nice car, dont know whether id bother with a twingo engine conversion though, if your going down the conversion route, get a 1.6, or 172 engine coversion, cheap as chips and has been done a million times. Remember a twingo GT only runs about 100bhp (not much more than a 1.4 16v), and even in a car that size people are saying it feels sluggish, not sure about the clockability of them either

also what do you think insurance would be like? as im 20 years old and never had a bump but no no claims

Insurance qould prob be a couple of grand in all honesty, do a search on here theres loads of people who have done it, prob a lot less than a twigngo conversion though

il have the suspension sorted in a few days hopefully!! along with some decent tyres fro the mean time. like alot of people say alot of driver skill is needed and id like to think im pretty good, i no its only a small engine but i think i should be ok as i can out run a 200bhp astra derv on through the corners and llandow isnt exactly a massive track lol plus im gettin a reasonable 0-60 for a 1.2 around 11 secs lol

You'll kick yourself in a couple of years for wasting all that cash on a 1.2 clio if you do it.

Seriously consider either waiting til your 21 and getting a 172 or try getting a quote on a 172 at 20.

I had a 172 at 21 and paid around £1200-1300 iirc. Can't remember exact sum.

thats alot of money tho just to drive a car with abit more power, plus i only want a bit of track fun i dont want massive power plus a 172 gunna cost me more to tax, fuel etc im perfectly happy with my lil 1.2 at the moment until i come into some real money,

So just leave it at suspension and brakes. Don't bother touching the engine, it's not worth it. Do you not think your insurance is gonna shoot up with all these mods and a "twingo" engine transplant... even though it doesn't make good power an insurance company is gonna see it as a non-std engine and prob rape you. Especially at your age. Is your insurance company even modification friendly? Some won't even allow lowering springs.

do what you like mate its your money engine transplant is a good idea but you'll proberly regret it down the line when you fancy a new car n you've spent all that money on sorting it out if you get me just go for a style n stick to it ive got a 1.2 n its quick enough for me lol if i want quick ill drive me dads car lol

lol im just gunna focus on making the car more fun i think, loose some weight, suspension, wheels, and some styling, i plan on getting a few track days done this year just bto perfect my driving before i add any real power lol

  black 3 door clio 1.2 16v
lol if i could buy ur 1.6 i prob would but i really cant afford to lol plus im still owing my dad for this one lol

  Turbos.
Also took my 1.2 with FKs and 4pots on track and it was fine really... lapped as quick as most cars.

I wouldn't be put off, it has the potential to be a fun car. I'd be interested to know stats from the Twingo engine, how strong is it? How light is it compared to say... a R5 GTT lump?

  black 3 door clio 1.2 16v
that was what id like to know as i love r5's but they are a bit dated now so id like to make a reasonable new age alternative, small, light and relativly fast say 120-130bhp

  Turbos.
Might be worth phoning k-tec for their opinion. Obviously they know about the R5 and may have started work on the new 1.2 Turbo.
