My Porsche Boxster S

  Lotus Elise
As a few of you may know I have been wanting a new car for a while now and had a shortlist of 4 cars all with six cylinder and RWD.

1) BMW e46 M3
2) BMW 130i
3) Porsche 996 Carrera 2
4) Porsche Boxster S 986

After many months hunting around, trawling forums and various test drives I plumbed for one of the two Porsches. Skip forward to today and a phone call from our local BMW dealer who explained he had just taken in a Boxster S in part exchange and offered me a very good price so I bit the bullet, signed the cheque and I am now the very proud owner of a 2003 Porsche Boxster S facelift.

Quick Spec

Lapis blue with blue hood
18inch Carrera Wheels

Poor quality image I know, I shall get some better ones tomorrow and stick them up for you all to admire ;)

PS: It was only £186 more to insure for a year then my Trophy! Which is now for sale!

Cheers.

F*cking hell Sam that's a hell of a car to have at your age mate,
good job you know how to drive properly. ;)

Mental that it's only £186 more than the Trophy to insure.

Cheers guys, one lady owner, full porsche specialist service history, 62k 4 new tyres and a new clutch last year.

Mint!

I wanted one but the extra space in the M3 swayed me.

Nice.

I've fallen in and out of love with these many times.

Love the purity of the mid-engined driving experience, don't like the cost of consumables.

Is there a way to run these 'on the cheap' or does it have to be main dealer all the way?

In other words, could Mike at Rentech keep one tip top for me?

Fair play Sam that looks absolutely brilliant.
Absolutely love these and will definitely be considered for my next car (whenever that may be).

  53 Clio's & counting
Would love one, in fact I nearly bought one before the Elise, but after a few test drives it just reminded how I don't fit in them :(

  172, Focus
Look forward to seeing some more pics, love these cars. Went to buy one after I sold my Type-R, gutted to find out I'm to tall to fit in one. Enjoy!

Very nice. I'd love one, just the running costs are not viable for me even if I could afford it..

Look forward to more pictures

Awesome cars, should have got the 987 though, I was sooo close to buying one before I bought the z4!

They drive brilliantly, I just can't get over the dated look/ dash :( If you like how it looks you're onto a winner, it's always cool to say you own a Porsche lol.

  Lotus Elise
Have you got any plans for it, or are you just leaving it alone and driving the bugger?

Cheers dude, plans are to put some DS2500s in it and upgrade to Porsche M030 suspension. (10mm drop, stiffer roll bars and dampers)

Freddy paying too much? ;)

No I just work to much ;)

Lovely car Sam!

Will be very interested to see how you get on with it ...

Cheers, sadly I couldnt afford a 987 :( I agree it is slightly dated but I believe the facelift still looks like a very classy motor.

Cheers Dave, I bet I keep it longer then keep the 32 ;)

I am currently loading photos on to photobucket so will put them up shortly.

So as promised, pictures!

Gave the car a good clean today, clay and SRP. I have ordered some Scholl 40 thanks to the suggestion of Chris all I need now is a good wax.

Hahaha!

Its a 1976 1275 GT. It has my dads old hillclimb and sprint engine in it and was fully restored a few years back with adjustable everything, suspension, brake bias etc. Its such a laugh to drive.

Porsche scrubs up well, decent looking car imo. Really really surprised that you didn't plum for the 130i, between the 2 of us, I think every what car thread on here (circa 7-9k) ends with either myself or you recommending one lol!!

Thats looks really good, off to PHs I go...

Running costs scare me though, everyone I know that has owned one has ended up well out of pocket.

The running cost dont seem overly massive IMO, my dad had one and said it wasn't to bad for a Porsche. I managed to get this one for a grand under what glasses guide valued it at so once the Clio is sold I will have bit of a nest egg for maintance. Tyre prices are little concerning as the rears are 265/35s.

The 130i is a very good car and I would recommend one to anyone however the driving experience of the Porsche and the badge just swung it for me.

When I say running cost, I really mean a new engine lol.

I know 2 people who had to pay themselves, and another that got it done under warranty. Although all on the 987 S.

Lovely looking car, been looking at these myself. It's madness the high insurance cost of the Clio compared to other metal out there hence, breaking mine and looking at something new. Very nice mate, enjoy.

I got quotes for the 987 and found them surprisingly cheap.
I could have got the non s model for £450 FC and the S for 580! I'm 25...
