  Renault Clio RS200
Stage two/three I don’t know all I know is this.
1.2tce Clio with the following modifications:
Decat exhaust
Full stainless steel exhaust system
172 (250cc) injectors
1.6 Corsa vxr intercooler
ITG panel filter (but who cares about that)

I’ve been looking for a couple weeks now for a tuning company to bring this setup all together. I got quoted locally for work of over a grand to get a new G4+ Monsoon ecu, because they couldn’t tune the stock ecu. Would’ve been nice to get anti lag, two step and variable valve timing but in a car worth 2.5k I’d rather find a specialist Renault tuners that can tune the stock ecu.

Cheers for any help, want to see how far my s**t box 1.2 tce can go until I get a slap in the face from a piston.

Where did you get your exhaust from? I’m looking for a TCE exhaust, looked everywhere and can’t find one? Cheers

I got it from ktec the Renault specialist but I think they’ve discontinued it.
To be honest I’ve had my fun with it and would be happy to go back to stock. Only thing is I cut the last exhaust off because I was completely inexperienced and didn’t want to drop the subframe so now I can’t get the stock one back on...
So, if you like, I’ll sell you the cat-back for £90 (bought £300, stainless steel and beautiful welds - also fits like a dream) and take your stock one off you in the process?

Let me get back to you on that, definitely interested! :)

Lovely, take as much time as you need I’m definitely stuck here myself. I have a lovely decat from ktec aswell but I have to say I’d have to sell it quite overpriced as they’re pretty rare to find for mailorder, http://store.trwperformance.com/index.php?cPath=12_114 that’s a Portuguese decat if you’d like. It’s about £180 less than what I bought my decat for but I managed to find it anyhow...

Also, I’m not sure how much you want to or how confident you are with pushing your engine but during my parts studies I found this rare topic which beautifully outlines everything you can do to the D4FT engine ( 1.2 tce) so that may be helpful

1.2 turbo modifications
Forged engine 1.2 tce
Cam shafts
Manifold tce

Tbh RS Tuning seem to get so much flak nowadays that I'd be nervous taking a wheelbarrow to them, nevermind something that's not commonly mapped. +1 for Chris @ EFI Parts

Behave.

RSTuning are awesome at mapping.

Mapped everything I have had mapped and never had a single issue.

I would not hesitate taking my car to them.

Haven’t heard a single bad thing about them despite looking.

Kidding right?

I assume you're not on Facebook mate as they constantly grief their 'customers' on there

I take Facebook with a pinch of salt buddy.

Assume your talking about the Clio boys?
Definitely, some people that use Facebook are total lickers, it's nice to come on here and read mildly intellectual people chat. And nope, a mix of a few groups/car types.

The way they put themselves across doesn't sit right with me, if you're promoting your business don't start calling people retards/c***s because they leave a bad review of your business. Not naming names but speaking to reputable people in the Clio and Megane 'world' and they say that they wouldn't send a car there for mapping after they've built it which speaks for itself tbh.

But then again, most people don't make a Facebook post/leave a review after a good experience, it's usually after something has gone wrong or you're unhappy.

There seems to be a high level of bitching and bad mouthing in the trade.

The thing is everyone is an expert in the car world.

A builder , builds and engine and for them to comment they would send an engine there implies they have some sort of knowledge of mapping. If they had the level of mapping knowledge to pull apart a map that Paul does, then they would be mapped as well.

Evidence would which is contrary to the experience of the above people is seen thousands of evidential cars that are kicking about that RSTuning have mapped and have survived.

A lot of people have an opinion , which is often construed as fact. Sadly , the two are not inter twined.

The business is a b**ch fest, with people full of agenda and thin on facts in my experience!

That’s not a pop at you fella!

I’m appreciative of all this information. Although I have to say, since posting this 4 months ago and learning of efi I’m still yet to book an appointment, worried about pushing the D4FT beyond its limits...
I’d honestly like to know from a previous owner when they got a tune done and when their motor lasted to/when you sold it. I’m at 66800 miles and feel as though a 1.2 should not go much beyond this, especially with a 150+bhp tune.

why wouldn't a 1.2 go much past 66k? you would be lucky to get much over 150bhp tbh. the turbo doesn't really have it in it. I can't comment to much on longevity bit though. I've done 2k+ now on mine. daily driving 50 miles and I like to kick it hard a fair bit too and it hasn't let go yet

I used RS tuning for mine, I wasn't overly impressed and would be trying EFI if I had another. Mine made great power and was fantastic on full throttle, drivability was poor everywhere else

  Renault Clio RS200
The previous owner had a chip tune from a German/maybe company (mentioned often on forums) and that really is what I’ve been experiencing, feels like boost is made & kept as high & early as possible and the engine may go boom at any moment in acceleration. I really do not trust it and my options are either stock remap or full power remap, really unsure where to go. At this point I’ve bought a new clutch and had it for 9 months, it’s already slipping. And although I drive it like a b*****d I’m not one for burnouts or other clutch burning activity’s so I’m only left to blame the tune. I reckon they’re just pushing for peak figures so they can put it on their sales sheets...

rs tuner by fastchip? I had one of his maps on my first TCE too, munched a clutch in about 2000 miles, pointless mapping them on the stock injectors, you get loads of low down torque but then once you get up the revs it tails off as the injectors are maxed, sure mine made 118hp on the stock injectors/rstuner map

intercooler/decat and injectors is the way to go, transforms them.

  Renault Clio RS200
I already have inter-cooler, decat and injectors is the thing, I need to commit. Fastchip is the exact one yes, another Martin I believe. talking on here makes me feel like it’s about time to try and squirt some power into those cylinders.
By the way, the intercooler I have my hands on is from a 2013 corsa VXR (as far as I can tell it’ll fit) could you tell me if it’s okay to fit prior to driving down to the remap station (150 miles)? Also, do you remember where you got your corsa from or how much power the tce produced post tune? Thank you mate

it was years ago I made just under 140hp and 150lbft, I didn't change the intercooler on mine but it was holding it back. just downpipe, panel filter and injectors.

definitely worth it they are bomb proof little engines!

I’m talking more of these modifications http://store.trwperformance.com/index.php?cPath=12_114 but 2k+ does increase my confidence, what modifications and bhp do you have? If you have it to hand anyway...

172 injectors, big open air filter, protoxide decat (wasn't on when mapped) ktec cat back and a big front mount intercooler. 145bhp 147lbft at 13/14psi. Driven daily and you wouldn't think it was anything other than factory. except for the fact it flies for a 1.1 engined car

  Renault Clio RS200
Bloody hell thats a long read, great story though. I’m excited to see where it’ll go, built me a lot of confidence for moving on.

  2009 Clio TCE
I’m looking forward to where this thread goes. As a TCE owner, I would like to see how reliable the tuned cars run.

But stuck on where to get an Exhaust. I’ve looked at the Sportex ones but I can’t really find anything off the shelf. Or even an intercooler. If anyone knows where I can get the parts talked about ^^^ then that would be great :)

  Renault Clio RS200
I’ve bought myself a corsa vxr intercooler. There’s no place I can find a bolt on uprated intercooler so your best bet is to buy any IC that fits in your space and just do a bit of fabricating. Whether that’s welding or zip ties is up to you haha

Sounds good! I’m not sure whether Forging a 1.2 is worth it but You never know ?. I am considering basic mods for power. Mostly they’re exhausts, 172 or 182 injectors, intercooler and remaps. Just looking for the right advice!

  Renault Clio RS200
Only thing I’d say is be prepared to change the clutch, I have some mods on but still running a basic map and my clutch is on its last legs after only about 6000 miles
