Need advice

After some pointers for a kinda detailers strarter kit. I currently have:

2 plastic buckets
A sponge
A microfibre polish applicator pag
A microfibre cloth
Turtlewax Shampoo and wax
turtle wax polish

I know the turtlewax stuff isnt great and to be honest the shampoo is nearly all gone anyway. What would you recommend? And a basic idea of what steps to follow would be good. I currently:

1) Hose down the car
2) 2 bucket method using the shampoo and wax
3) rinse off
4) dry with microfibre cloth
5) apply polish
6) buff polish off with a nothing special cloth

Ditch the sponge for a start and get a good lambswool wash mitt . I like the meguiars one best . I use a combination of an aquablade and waffle weave towel to dry the car . Get some autoglym super resin polish and autoglym extra gloss protection . Then a decent wax like the chemical guys 50/50 or even the xxx hardcore paste wax .

Halfords for the auoglym and meguiars wash mitt . For the waffle weave towel , wax and a microfibre applicator for the wax carwashnwax . I get the majority of my stuff off here . Also try their Extreme Body Wash N Wax shampoo .

Delivery is usually within 48 hours from my experience . If you type in " cliosport " at the checkout you'll also get some discount :)

I prefer to polish with a german applicator as it has more bite than the little yellow foam pads .

For removing the polish and wax i use some microfibre cloths from Aldi . They are very soft , just over £1 for 2 .

So if I bought:

CG Extreme Body Wash N Wax
CG Large Waffle Weave Drying Towel
CG XXX Hardcore Paste Wax
CG WashMit

and then follow:

1) Hose down the car
2) 2 bucket method using the CG Extreme Body Wash N Wax and Wash mit
3) rinse off
4) dry with waffle weave towel
5) apply CG XXX with the applcator pad i have
6) buff polish off with the microfibre cloth i have

Is it worth investing in a clay bar while I am at it?

well i just got my last 'chequeback' from phones for you so this little lot could be what i spend it on

ooh that sounds good. I was just looking at my basket on the chemical guys website and wondering if it was really worth shelling out £50 but if Autoglymm is on 3 for 2 that makes it mroe tempting

Polish and seal before you wax . It might sound a few quid to spend , but these products will last a long time before you'll need to buy some more .

its bloody confusing this. lol. step 6 was meant to be buff off the CG XXX which is wax not polish isnt it?

So what polish should I use? Should i polish after i have dried and before the Wax?

Am starting to think I might goto halfords tomorrow with a shopping list and try get everything so I can have a go tomorrow...

Right ok. I get it now. To buy everything - wash N wax, clay bar, polish, sealant, wax, wash mit - is going to be more than I was thinking of spending though. So guess I'll leave it for now. Get a new wash mit and some more wash n wax.

You should wait 12-24 hours after using the Extra Gloss Sealant before you add the wax ontop to allow you to get the best out of the Sealant durability wise.

Not really, apply, remove after 30-60 mins then allow to set up properly for at least 12-24 hours - add the wax following weekend if need be after the first wash or something. I was told AG had amended the labels now recommended the above.
