New Renaultsport Clio will be 1.6 Turbo, mentioned in EVO

  VW Touran, BeetleCab
Hi ,
It was mentioned on another thread about the future of Renaultsport Clio's. EVO mag states the new Clio will have a 1.6 turbo from the Nissan Juke??? Sadly smaller engines and turbos really are the future. Noticed the other day that Ford dont even put a 2litre in the new Mondeo any more!! 1.6 is the new engine of choice!!!

Evo also reckoned that Clio 182's were taking a hit on prices, and were a good buy.

Rapidly increasing insurance costs, very high tax bracket and fuel prices are whats hitting 172/182s prices hard

But no where as bad as imprezas

Hi,
Anything that costs £400 plus to TAX, so Scoobies, R32's, etc.........
Thankfully my 172 is a track toy, so no tax or insurance to pay.....

Your missing the point slightly, new sports cars with very high tax brackets such as £400+ are bought by people who can usually easily afford the car.

Alot of clio sports are bought by younger people who cant

I can't believe how much people worry over the tax cost, ok £400+ is a lot, but the 182 at £235 is feck all in the generall running costs of a car over a year.

I know lots of people who've changed to new cars to save on tax, paying £1000s more just because it does more MPG

Girl at work traded in a 1.2 fiesta she bought a few months back for 8k (paid 10k) against a new diesel one for 12k to save on mpg and tax.

f**king lol at basically paying £6k to save on tax and fuel costs.

People that do this annoy me, its only worth it if your keeping the car for a long time which most of the time they dont!!

I was tempted to trade in my 182, but whats the point, it's paid for, i know it's reliable/cracking condition, does "alright" mpg. To get an alright diesel to save a few £s on tax/mpg i'd have to spend a good few £s so don't see the point.

nor do i, my mum wants to change her scenic for something more economical and faster which i can understand as it is slower that my car and worse on fuel, but she wont be paying extra £k's to change it maybe a few hundreds that change is sensible but paying £k's to get 10 more mpgs is rediculous!

Sometime the initial cost isnt what botheres most people. Its keeping up with costs each month after, spend less on fuel etc then you have more money free to play with or pay bills. Although yes, usually its all in the head.
