no longer a cup owner, now have a 197

I still think they look bloody aweful. Bigger,fatter,heavier, slower. Beats me how people are saying ''they're growing on me'. You'd need more money than sense to buy a new one imo.

Safer, more toys, more stable, handle better, years newer and faster A-B on road or track... yup, a true backwards step ;)

So you'll not be going ahead with the new tb set up on the 172. Getting a boring new 197 instead. Andy will be most disappointed. lol

I loved the old 'they look like 1.2's argument'......... I was looking at mine out the window yesterday, its lowered on H&R coilovers, has sooooo much presence

197's definatley look nice, only gripe is that the front fogs seems to be too big, or too far stuck out? It looks slightly off IMO

yeah the front is a bit fugly, it needs some sort of air scoop to match the rear one, thats the only thing that bugs me slightly, if you don't know what you looking at then it just looks like a new clio from the front, mind you being bright red, i have had more people move over and let me pass than the old clio. and 6th gear doesn't do much its more noisy than 5th gear on mway. Mine has got the keyless entry and its great as you don't ever need to get it out your wallet or bag (my work bag) stereo has to go, and that tunepoint thing is crummy, it doesn't list the album names or anything when your scrolling through, (unless you need a newer ipod ?)

I think out of all the current hatches the looks of the 197 are a grower and it will still look fresh in years to come.

I agree. I'm not in the market for a Clio, but if I was, and the choice was a 182 or a 197, I'd choose the 197. The 182 is dead. It looks old. It feels old. It is old.

The 197 is better in virtually every regard, and in a few years there will still be the odd few 182 die-hards on here saying how it was the last of the greats because either it's a second car, or they can't afford a 197 - just like we have now with the Williams. As an every day car I'd take the 197 every time without giving the 182 a second glance.

Anyone who thinks the 197 is boring either can't drive for toffee, or hasn't ever driven one. Take a 197 by the scruff of the neck and rinse it down a B-road, then come back on here and say it's boring ;)
