Number plate lamp 1*2's

So these things have contacts made out of scrap metal and the unit isn't sealed very well and likes to let water in and generally corrode to bits.

While poking about the pin connectors on the loom that plug into the bottom of the unit don't appear in too clever a state. Has anyone here replaced them, if so do you have a part number for the "male" pins/contacts in the plug housing on the harness attached to the car. I've asked Renault here but surprise surprise the apes they employ are struggling.

Just replaced the rear lamp holder on mine .. My Ph1 one died but it did look like the Batmobile at night with no rear lamp

I'm tempted to silicone the connector up so no more water can get in. It's a shoddy design thats for sure !

Tbh the plug connector doesn't feel overly tight on them so quite how they expected it to stay watertight I've no idea. I'd just rather replace the pins. Modify the assembly to reduce chances of future water ingress and leave it be. Even if the lamp cures it I'm not convinced the pins have a long life ahead judging by their current condition.

i just put a new holder and lense on mine, then made it pretty water tight with half a reel of electrical tape :D

Get a screwdriver out with some sandpaper rolled around it and get rubbing. Will soon clean the contacts enough to get a connection.

I'm picky, I had done that anyway but I'd sooner replace the pins and then seal it all back up properly so it doesn't need attention again.

Crap design, been through a couple of holders now!

There's a guy on ebay selling just the wiring part for £40...I'll just get one from the scrappy thanks.

£40 he can f**k off. It's about £2.50 worth of pins tops then split the plug solder/crimp the new pins on and reassemble the plug.
