Ollie's Silver Cup - JMS RS2/Wilwood/2118

Re: Ollie's Silver Cup - JMS RS2/428s/Wilwood/2118

What did you name the RS2 as on your insurance? Uprated inlet manifold or something like that?

I told them it was a new air intake/intake manifold. I don't think it was on their system, as he said it'll appear on my policy documents as something slightly different. :)

So your keeping the existing catch? Won't that be a bit of a ball ache etc?

Why not go for the locking ones? It's only about a tenner more isn't it?

Looking good though matey.

The locking and non-locking are the same price. Yes, I'm probably keeping the existing catch too now; I'll see how long it lasts before it gets tedious. lol!

And, speaking of the aerocatch, I've not long collected them from the post office. :)

Excellent service from Driftworks again; very quick delivery and competitive price!

lol! On my old car, they were fitted to a single skin bonnet.

The double skin and shaping on the Clio bonnet looks like it could be fun!

Don't post on CS much but am always looking about, but have to say this car is one of the best on the forum and prob the best ive ever seen. Attention to detail is second to none, great eye for what works and what doesn't. Admire the thought and work gone into this, Keep up the good work.

Thanks a lot! :D

I have another few photos from Sunday; I was just about to bin the photos I hadn't used and came across these that I thought were worth a go. :)

Lol, I am sure it will be alright!

Let me know what it says on you insurance documentation mate, as this is a factor that's putting me off doing this type of modification.

It's brushed on satin black hammerite; first coat, then an hour or so later, a second coat. :)

I think you would get better results spraying them actually; I just couldn't be bothered to remove them! lol!

Re: Ollie's Silver Cup - JMS RS2/428s/Wilwood/2118

As far as excellent timing goes; a couple of days before CSS and my handbrake cable has snapped! :dapprove:

It's on the drivers side, right where it meets the calliper. If I lift the handle until it's almost vertical, the other side is enough to hold the car. Hopefully it'll get sorted tomorrow. :)

Re: Ollie's Silver Cup - JMS RS2/428s/Wilwood/2118

I've fitted 3sets of aerocatches and it never gets any easier! Was easier putting them into carbon firbre bonnets using a dremel and whole saws.

Good luck is all I can say! :)

Re: Ollie's Silver Cup - JMS RS2/428s/Wilwood/2118

I don't think the catches will be done today now, as the handbrake cable needs sorting and I need to clean the car ready for CSS tomorrow! :)

Really happy I didn't get the completely flush ones now then, as the hole would have to be perfect! haha!

I like the Idea of catches, but my bonnets a bit shabby so will probably get repalced with a Fibreglass job at somestage.

Its looking doubtful ill make it to CSS in mine now, Gearbox is in as of yesterday I understand, but no news on if the issue has been resolved, I'm guessing no news = not fixed :(

To be honest my bonnets pretty shabby in places too! Got a few dents in it, stone chips and a scratch! :dapprove:

Any news on the gearbox/wobble since you posted this?

Handbrake is still broken; couldn't find anywhere that kept a replacement in stock! It's the offside cable that's snapped, where it attaches to the calliper.

Replacement cable ordered, to arrive on Monday though. :)

Car is now cleaned and ready for CSS tomorrow. :D

Anyway...washed, hoovered, waxed, etc.

Luckily, I had time to stick another layer of dodo juice light fantastic on; good for producing a nice deep gloss look to the paint.

how are you finding the Jms RS2 now you have had it for a while?

seriously considering it for when my cars on the road.

seems like the best option for just a road car/odd track day, would i be right?

I'll have had it fitted 2 weeks on Monday; I'm just as impressed now as the day I picked it up.

I'm unsure of what power it will make and results I've seen from other cars seem to vary (as will all modifications really), but regardless of that, I love the way the car drives and feels.

I find the power delivery to be very different to standard, it's much smoother and progressive.

The noise is quite addictive too! Grumbling muffled intake noise low down and then an incredible roar top end! I love it! :D

Being unmapped at present, it's difficult to give an opinion on the complete package, as I understand the mapping to bring it all together nicely; so far though, I'm very impressed with the RS2. :)

I thought the RS2 would be the more sensible option on an every day daily use car, yeah.

As I've said before though, there are probably owners of ITB equipped cars who would say they're no problem being used on a daily basis too. It's just personal choice really; I tend to think of and association ITB's as a more hardcore track/race focused product.

There's a good few RS2'd car knocking around as almost all the group buy kits have been fitted now. See if there's anyone local and blag a ride!

Nope still no news, waiting on the results of it being test driven...

Maybe news tomorrow, who knows, been in a hire car for 4 weeks now which is stretching my cash flow, really missing the little French box.
