when mine got written off insurance paid me out £2800 about 4 months ago i picked the black one up for £1400

my old one was on 75k new one is 110k and feels a lot more solid as its all been motorway miles and has frsh

Damn im looking for one too! Not sure how much I should be paying for a decent one. Im looking to get one around January time Danny ;) Need to sell my R19 16v first though.

£2500 + for a decent one the rest are snotters. Trust me i ve looked.
A few of the arm chair experts will tell you you can get a ph2 for that, you can but you will be buying someone elses problems. £4k for a mint phase 2, a little more for a Cup.

^^^ Thats a good price for a flamer, I paid more than that for my iceburg.
Its had two cambelt changes and no offensive mods, I would say thats a safe bet.
Be sure to hpi it.
I would also get under the car and check for any oil leaks from around the gearbox area, and split cv boots etc. Check for overspray etc as they are getting on abit now and a few have seen some paint. It should drive tight, it will rattle a little, steering wheel will be worn. Check its been regularly serviced, the usual stuff.
I love my ph1, the most fun you can have for the cash.

Well i just found out mines is actually an Iceberg Phase 1 rather than a titanium as i originally thought, pretty pleased now lol

  e92 + E46 M3 + Cup
Mines Iceburg too, only relised when painting side strips & door hanldes, How many Iceburgs PH1 are there? is it really only 99 :S.. well i've completely pulled one apart so that would make it 89.5 lol

  Ph1
When you see a ph1 172 in your rear view mirror or at Tesco's lol you know its a Clio Sport 172

See a ph2 or 182 and it looks like any run of the mill Clio. Maybe thats a good thing if you like subtle

Sure there was only 1200 or so ph1 172's imported into the UK via Renault dealers.

Most of the cheap ones get snapped up for track use. Wont be long till prices for ph1's start to go up (cant get any lower lol) as demand out stretches supply

**im a iceberg silver owner ;)

Thats what i was thinking, in total there were 1357 registrations of Phase 1's.

Take away any that have been written off (and by that i mean completley totalled and never brought back to life) How many are left? Id be suprised if it were above 1000 tbh.

Heres all the colour listings in rarest order >>>

Sunflower Yellow > 31 registered

Flame Red > 60 Registered

Iceberg Silver > 99 Registered

OdysseyBlue > 116 Registered

Pearl Black > 117 Registered

Titanium Silver > 934 Registered

Anyone confirm how many Scarab Green Ltd Ed were made?

+1 on the IB Silver :)

Ph1's definitely look better from the front, and from the rear I think they look subtle :)

There was more than 172 made in Scarab Green, they done too many, so some have no number i.d on the sill plate

I loved my ph1 in iceberg but i had to have a sunflower yellow, had it up forsale last year but dont think ill ever sell it now

  Ph1
Are you sure about the Green Exclusive colour?

I always thought they never even managed to even shift the full 172 models

Keeping my titanium ph1 anyhow its mint on below average miles. Iv had it since 30K and it wants for nothin watch the price creep up as they become harder to find. Finding a mint original condition ph1 172 will be like looking for a low milage genuine R5 GT TUrBO soon.

Thats exactly what i think will happen

Thing is the ph1 172 is more than likely going to be the last hot hatch with out traction control, esp and all those other shitty gadgets that just slow you down and hinder your driving. All new cars have to much elecrtonics just look at what the fly by wire did to the ph2

The ph1 has traction control mate and is the one you can't turn off.

+1

Im fairly sure that they made just as many/few mk1 valvers as they did ph1 172's and they are still falling in value all the while.

1300 Valvers? Pretty sure there was more than that built for the UK market?

Difficult to compare anyway. Age gap is massive plus their both a totally different cars in terms of build and power.

no traction control on the ph1 fella

love my ph-1 172, had it nearly 4 years now. its on 98k now and still going strong.

they are the best looking RS clio imo

and dont need to be modded either to look good.

all i have on mine is an exhaust, ph2 lights and colour coded side strips/handles

  williams and trophy
f**k standard, PH1's are only good for ripping every thing out & wacking Buckets seats in & a sparco steering wheel to be abused around a track! ;)...:rasp:

I think the PH1's look naff "standard", but with a few subtle mods they look much better

1. lowering - Standard height looks awful for a "sports" car
2. Colour coded side strips & door handles - Standard looks povety spec
3. Splitter, Just looks like some things missing with out it
4. side repeaters, orange ones just have to go :dead:

At the end of the day, each to there own, i own a PH1 & PH2 172 & prefer the PH2 over all

How my PH1 stands with subtle external mods

personally dont like the 172s at all. the jesus' is about the nicest one i know of, but thats all down to how it actually drives.............closest thing to a williams iv beeen in...and iv been in a lot of the newer shite.....and yes..............that means the 182s and 197s, megs etc too

driving is supposed to be enjoyable after all.

The prices for all brands have just droped quicker than they would of....

Some real bargains out there

I went from a PH1 to a Cup, don't even notice the difference in throttle control tbh.

The ph1 has traction control mate and is the one you can't turn off.

Wrong, PH1 has ABS and that's it.
