Project: Clio 182 RB

Finished work early today, so after picking up a pressure washer from my Dads, I decided to put the car shelter up, a bit of a test run really, and once it's built it can be folded down and it makes life a lot easier when I want to use it.

Comes in a very handy wheeled bag, should I ever want to take it to a show or anything, this will be very useful!

Pretty straightforward to assemble and unfold, took me about 20 mins, but now I know what I'm doing, it'll probably only take a few mins.

Without the sides:

And with 2 of the 4 sides attached:

Then it folds down really easily and compactly for storage:

It's 100% waterproof too so it means I can clean/detail the car pretty much whenever I fancy now.

Going to put together a few outdoor lights on a sealed circuit that I will hang from the inside so I can use it in the evening too.

Went out the other night with Rhys and Jon taking some photos of the cars, bit of a drive around Manchester saw us stop in Stockport and in Knutsford over the M6 for some light trails.

Crop of the light trail shot that I quite like:

That silver ZS is tasty. Who's is that? ;)

Love this car. Most people's RB's look really pale but this always looks really deep.

Thanks for the tips the other night. Will shoot in full manual more often :)

I know, it's more than likely my dogs**t camera that's doing it!

No worries, I enjoyed it, do it again when it's warmer/drier!

Blur makes them look almost fake, far too heavy. Thinking about it it makes the cars look like toys.

Wouldnt say its "far too heavy" its more to do with the gaussion blur is crude. I should've used more layers and I didnt :(

If id stacked the background correctly it would've looked a lot better.

May have another attempt at some point :)

Gave the car a full detail on Saturday in prep for the big Chester meet, we all know what the cleaning stages look like, but I did do a few new bits.

Added Velcro coins to the number plates so I can remove them for photos/cleaning :)

Filthy behind them when I first took them off!

I also discovered some rust, someone has drilled some new holes at some point, and not done the best job of it, causing the aforementioned rust! There are a few tiny little spots below the new holes too, not sure what has caused this?

Jetwash, white spirit and some elbow grease later:

If anyone is interested these are the coins I used, got them off eBay £4.00 posted, can't complain really!

I also gave the exhausts a good going over with that Megs Metal Polish, great stuff I must say!

Then with everything looking spotless and clean, the sun popped out to provide the background for a nice warm shot :)

very nice ed, it looked smart yesterday! I still havent maned up enough to put my velcro on my plates its been sat on my desk for about a month now

It's been a while since the Clio has had much attention. Yesterday I (well mainly Russ) made up for that! I took the car down early on Saturday morning, I had prepped it for Russ the day before, basically doing a full decon for him to get the car as clean as possible, to reduce the workload on the day.

I won't rewrite what Russ has already written, so here is the full write up:

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/show...o-182-in-Racing-Blue-finished-in-Zymol-Glasur

Really enjoyed the day, and Russ's work is amazing, he has a great attention to detail, that I can relate to and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone wanting a truly fantastic finish for their car.

I'm sure he wont mind, but a few photos of the finished article:

Still part way through doing my Alcantara dash, causing a few more head scratching moments than I first expected, but I will overcome them in time.

Gave the car a good clean yesterday.

Bought two new things for the cleaning side of things.

Zaino Z7, great shampoo tbh, very very slick and left a great finish from just a clean!

Also got a Woolly Mammoth, so awesome! I'll never look back I don't think, so absorbent!

Sprayed my grille satin black yesterday too, covered in FK already, just need to fit it now :)

Grabbed a few photos of the upper grille that I bought ages ago with the intention of spraying, just never got round to it!

Cleaned the grille with white spirit and G101.

Masked up the stickers on the top of the grille.

Then 2 coats of plastikote satin black spray paint. Thought it might need 3 but the coating after 2 was lovely.

Finally after leaving it for 24 hours, I gave it two coats of FK1000p which should keep it looking good for a while :)

Unfortunately, the tape I used to keep the paint off, also damaged part of the sticker found on the middle of the grille.

Anyone know where I could get another one???

It's seeing the detailed pics of yours that makes me pleased I bought an RB, and tempted to go back to OE wheels.

Love it :)

Also, what sidelight bulbs do you have fitted as they don't look OE yellow?

Fitted my satin black grille today.

Looks a lot better than the awful old grey thing. Also looks a lot meaner in the flesh, but I now need to do my washer jets/foglight surrounds/lower grille so it all matches!

Also changed my Thermostat (the temperature needle was never quite making it to halfway, and I was permanently on the cold map) with the help of Jonff, was a bit of a faff as the new one didn't seem to want to fit in the housing as snugly as the old one did.

We got it to fit and bolted it all up, hopefully the bolts will help push it correctly into place. We warmed the engine up and everything seems fine. So I will keep my eye on it.
