quick Coilover question for 172

  MKIII 138
whats the diffo between FK and H&R then. which would you recommend performance/adjustability/cost ?

seems like fred n chums recommed the FK`s and lots of peeps on here have H&R`s also and say there the nuts.

which gives the hardest ride ? i know you cant alter the H&R apart from ride height.

(for 172cup btw)

cheers

The FK's will be fimer. I'd recommend the H&R's but the FK's are a good product if you dont want to dig a little deeper in your pocket.

The spring and damping rate on the H&R's are spot on they are actually a better drive on the road than the standard car yet have none of the bodyroll. Turn in is quicker and sharper than standard also. I know alot of people say coilovers are a horrible ride on the road but the H&R's really arent!

cool, thanks for the info Loony

gonna start saving.

btw i noticed they do one with a remote reservoir now may have to do some research before i buy.

I'd not seen that. Although tbh its probably overkill if you are going to use the car on the road plus the cost will be higher again. For the money (£650 if you shop around) you wont find better and i honestly think you wont need anything else.

i've fitted several H&R's, and several FK's to 172's

in terms of on road, they're identical, the damping feels the same

(anyone who has had suspension fitted by me, knows about my "test" route!!!)

H&R's are easier to install, but they have limited camber adjustment

where as the FK's have a larger camber adjusment

the FK's can also have a lower rear ride height (thats the only thing the H&R's are missing)

they're virtually the same

how will the camber adjustment effect me ? i wont be doing many track days if any so toe in not nessesary however im to purchase some 10mm spacers and a toe in will angle the inside tyre away from the arch once lowered.

hmm..
