Re-map for my 172?

JMR

  RB 182 Cup
Have got a Powerflow stealth type free-flow stainless cat back exhaust [2" pipework with mid and rear silencer] and ITG panel filter.

The car has a nice deep burble at low revs [bit boomy under load] but is nice and sporty at higher to full revs.

Thing is....would it be worth having a re-map, tune or whatever to make the most of the mods? It doesnt seem like the car had the torque it used to at low revs, maybe this is due to the grumble from the exhaust, it used to be quieter and smoother [until the Reno one fell off!!]:(

Or is it something the ECU will automatically re-adjust to? Air/fuel mixture etc.

I run the car on Shell V-Power all the time.:race:

Any help/advice would be appreciated fellas. Ive heard pmurray at RS Tuning is worth a visit?

Cheers, James

No.

It'll obviously make a small difference, but with just a catback and a new filter... Nooope.

Mmmmm.....

I read that BB tuning [is that right?] have an offer on at the moment.

Need a 48k service in 4 weeks time, was thinking about GDI in cambridge? Could cobble both together and come back with a re-vitalised car?

Opinions on that one too please...........

I beg to differ

Our remaps make an excellent different even on a stock car

i had my 172 remapped by paul at the weekend, and it made a much bigger difference than the inlet manifold!

I believe it to be the best value for money mod you can do to your clio! and practically invisible to insurance companies :D

cheer paul :)

What sort of gains did you get? Have you had it RR'd? And how much did you pay?

Whats your opinion Paul? How much will it cost and how 'invisible is it to insurance companies?'

Is there any adjustment to take into account for the air/fuel mixture due to the air filter/ freeflow exhaust?

No i havent had it RR'd so i cant say for sure how much it added. It has added a lot more power throughout the rev-range though.

I got it done at the group-buy price of £245, and for that sort of money, you'd be crazy not to go for it! i wish id had it done ages ago :)

Paid less than that for the cat back exhaust!
If it really improves the driveability I might just go for it. I'll sell a kidney or something.

What other mods have you got on yours mate?

  MK2 Audi TT - 2.0T dsg.
Yep, I have a cat back Inc decat, and an ITG panel filer, took it Paul @ RSTUNING and it made a big difference! deff worth doing.

not quite, group n is a renault product which makes use of 'light' mods like IK and exhaust work and is a replacement ecu which u literally plug and play on your car. A remap tkaes the 'map' area from your current ecu and is tweaked to allow better fuelling etc to take fulla dvantage of mods etc and produce better results. Dependsing on what you have and want depends on what you buy. A remap is probably better as it can be setup for your car.

like f**k, that idiot took my money and right royally screwed me !!
Yes he may be cheap but you try getting yer £200 back from paypal or your cc when you have a nice paperweight for an ecu cos I didnt.
Altho if you are after a gpn i did get it sorted :p
