Rear Beam PolyBushes

Need to replace these as they're buggered, might as well polybush them seeing as the old ones are getting binned, question is do I buy the normal purple ones, or the black series for £7 quid extra, is there a difference, are the black series hard as nails and intolerable, does it matter at all?

Black series will be harder iirc, but how much difference that makes I don't know.

Also try Larkspeed as I've often found their pricing best. There or eBay.

ECP is 10 minutes away from my house, for the sake of a few quid i'd rather click and collect it's just easier.

I just wondered if people avoided the black series because they're too hard?

Everything on the car is polybushed with purple Powerflex, I guess it would make sense to keep them all the same, f*ck standard bushes they're for losers.

I fitted the black bushes to the PH1.
The hardest part was cutting the old rubber bushes out (nothing was hard but that's the worst bit)

Its one of those jobs that looks easy on the face of it but will end up taking you ages. Getting the old bushes out is a massive pain without a press.

I guess that makes me a loser then, I'm busy removing the f**ked polybushes and going back to standard as the design premise behind them is awful and they never work properly for long.

Ive got the PMS spherical kit in mine, but had black polys in the front, purple in the dogbone etc. Tried various polybushes in a multitube of cars and tbh theyre never right unless they're static like the dogbone or clio arb ends.

There is a mot tester near me who has been doing the job for 30 years , he said he gets to see a lot of mk2 clios and has never failed one on rear bushes.
Maybe you should take it to a different garage.

Well seeing as the rear tyres are suddenly rubbing on the arches on tight turns, the rear wheels sit at different widths in the arches depending on which way you last turned, I can feel the rear moving about when the car changes direction, plus the fact that the rear beam bushes are utterly mashed up when we looked at them on the lift, i'm going to go with the theory that the rear beam bushes are f*cked.

0nce then just cut a groove with a hacksaw, like so.

Then just hit the metal inner and it will come out.

then you can fit the alloy sleeve, i used loctite to hold it in place.

The new bushes just push in by hand.

Done.

length of allthread, three nuts and some washers and you'll pull them out in about 10 mins

So it turns out my old bushes had indeed seen better days.

Sadly I forgot to get photos of the new bushes while it was on the lift, so this was the best I could do with it on the ground.

What a monumental pain in the arse that job was, even with an entire fully equipped garage it still took us 4 hours.

It also took us 2 hours to change the ball joints due to rusty nuts and gunk and stuff, they'd also seen better days.

Oh and when I say 'we' I mostly mean @HMSDervDestroyer with me helping a little, that man absolutely refuses to be beaten by any car, you're a f*cking legend Ryan.
