Trying to rewind my calipers and having no luck, on either side....

Have a rewind tool - doesn't matter which tool I use (clock/counter) I can't turn the T bar under tension....

Where am I going wrong please?

So I wondered if I was just not using enough force so extended the T bar…. It moved a bit but then I stopped to look and now the boot looks rather twisted…

I’m doing something wrong.

I have indeed removed the handbrake cable and the brake fluid res in the bonnet and the bleed nipple here.

I had this on my rear caliper.. in essence it needs a caliper rebuild. The cover is all twisted so won’t seal properly. Best to get a new caliper or rebuild it…

Here’s what mine looked like

Thanks!

I managed to free the boot and it all snapped back into a much prettier looking boot... will see if I can lube it up....

It's a crazy stiff rewind, but I think I've managed one side.

As above piston starting to seize, its not knackered yet if its moved back in though.

Wind piston out as far as you dare to inspect, prob see a little corrosion. Be mindful if you wind out too far piston comes out and your in the s**t

Clean piston up with scotchbrite and wd40, lube up piston with red rubber grease, (lithium grease will get you away if thats all you have).

Wind piston in and out shoud free up. This sorts 80% of sticky calipers out for good.

This is something I’ve always wondered about. What happens if it comes out? Does it not just wind back in?

I’ve decided to buy new calipers because for that price why not…..

Had the car about 7 years, one of them has always been a fucker for sticking.

Usually end up with a right mess of brake fluid/trying to get the piston over the seal with caliper in situ
Haha. Saw a clever vid using an airline to get the seal over the piston. But yeah I can imagine it being messy. I thought it was something to do with the mechanism being a pain in the arse to reassemble.

The handbrake mech is an absolute pain in the arse from memory. Front ones are a breeze in comparison.
