Normally they have to wait till so many get ordered before they ship them over from France. Happened to me, very annoying.

Paul Mitchell has been waiting nearly 2 weeks for a steering rack for Rajks Williams, Renault said 10 days! It turns out that Renault havent got any for the Williams & are having to get one from the manufacturer.

I wish Renault would hurry up as Paul is going to be doing the rack on my 16v, but he cant do it until hes finished Rajks & I cant drive the car until it is done.

Fortunately, I wont have to wait for rack, as I got mine from GSF & it only took them 2 days! Pity GSF dont do steering columns for the 16v.

Rajk,

Absolute nightmare at the moment not having a car, mine is driveable, but I dont want to risk it in case the steering fails completely & I cause an accident.

Pauls a good bloke, its a pity that Renault are letting him down. Its typical of them though, they never seem to have anything in stock. Everything that I have bought from them for my 16v has had to be ordered, even the lock nuts for the bottom of the front struts!

Benj,

Dont think Eurocarparts do the steering column mate, think they just do the rack. Ill check for you tonight as I have their brochure at home.

Fingers crossed it wont be too long until we all have our cars back on the road.:)

Ha! Tell me about it! Theyve had my 16v for 6.5 weeks now (the first rack was faulty and came off back order and i had an alternator bracket off back order)....absolute nightmere!

Phoned this morning again....no sign and no arrival date so far....

u33db,

If I were you Id cancel your order wih Renault for the rack & get one from GSF. They all come from the same manufacturer anyway. I didnt want to pay £200+ from Renault for a new rack that would take ages to come, when I could get one from GSF for £171.50 (less Cliosport discount as well!) in 2 days.

My local dealers parts desk is useless, they thought the 16v was an automatic! I even told them the year & engine size!

James, i tried asking them to go to a local supplier which they can actually do but they said as id already had a rack off them which was faulty i had to wait for the replacement (ie no local parts for me). Its a really pain and dont know if this is correct...maybe theyre just feckin me about??

u33db,

If they have supplied you with a faulty item, you are entitled to a full refund (including surcharge on rack).

Just say to them that you are not happy with the service & wish to cancel your order. Its like purchasing any item, you can change your mind & you are fully entitled to a refund.

I think that they are just messing you about.

They cannot refuse a refund, assuming that you still have the paperwork, even if they have supplied you with a faulty rack. Its not a contract, youre not tied in.

Luck at last?! After my 6.5 weeks of waiting, my rack still didnt arrive so i phoned up the dealer to get my car back with the following result; basically, theyre getting a different rack (ie not the correct one for my car) for me, fitting it and replacing everything necessary in the process to do it!!!

Apparently theyve done this once before so with a bit of luck i may have my valver back tomorrow!!! Ill try and find out exactly what they did in case anyone else is in the same boat.

Ha-ha you Corsa driving mailto:b@#tards...i m">b~#tards...i m coming for ya!!!!

u33db, that sounds a bit dodgy to me, could even be dangerous. I wouldnt be happy if that was my car.

BTW. Is that a Renault main dealer? If so isnt that against their policy?

Rajk, hope its not another 3.5 weeks mate!

James, I think the correct one has male trackrod ends and theyre getting one with female trackrod ends so should all be ok. Got a phonecall half and hour ago saying it had defo arrived and theyre working on it right now!!

To give you an update on my car, as I am awaiting Paul to finish Rajks before he can do mine, I called Paul yesterday & Renault have told him that they couldnt get him a Willy rack for Rajks car until mid November! So much for 10 days.

Paul said that he is going to fit new tracking arms to the Willy. I dont know where he is getting the tool from to do this, I assume that he is borrowing this from Renault for all the inconvenience that they have caused.

With a bit of luck, mine should be going in next weekend.
