Ricardo's Pearl White 220 Trophy

I agree, great read with the track evening and detailed notes on the parts fitted etc...…….. as you said, it's a nice record of what's been done to look back on and also for others to read too!

Thank you, yes I was lucky to have the mechanic recommended to me so he's now going to be my go to. I should be ordering the Pro Alloy FMIC and he's already booked in to fit it. Since my friend Matt moved to France I've had to go to various companies for work so hopefully now I can stay with the one person.

It's been a while since updating the thread since June, I have posted a couple of threads in between so I won't bore everyone again too much with the same content.

The main contribution to July was in the first week being the roadtrip to Monaco making it into a holiday taking 2 days each way to drive there and back. A total of 1871 miles covered, below is the link to the thread I made of the trip.

As you can see the Clio after the trip had an awesome beard of French flies! So a trip over to Ron's was in order to give it a decent valet, and with that a couple more photos after it was cleaned.

Another upgrade I wanted to do was change the OE intercooler to a front mount, I did this on the 200 with great effect with the Airtec FMIC. I had a result with that one as Airtec needed to borrow a 200 to mock up some new products, I let them use mine as I was fairly local so in return we did a deal for the front mount kit and top boost pipe kit fitted.

This time round I wanted to go Pro Alloy front mount (for my own reasons) a kit developed between RS Tuning and Pro, however this time round I'd have to bit the bullet and pay full retail price. No deals to be had this time!... However... Cliosport member Joe was selling his 200 to go 220 and had a few aftermarket goodies to sell, one of which just happened to be a Pro Alloy FMIC kit. Within 2 minutes of posting a thread asking what it was worth I put my name down to buy and agreed a price privately. Sorted, the Pro Alloy kit much less than the new price so I'm a happy man especially as Joe is bringing to me as well. This also coincided with a Southend meet arranged with Sash, Mark and Joe to do a photoshoot.

Not driven much but when it comes out it's a nice opportunity to take a few more snaps. A date for the intercooler is arranged and that's the Saturday 4th of August back down in Ashford Kent. Chris King is now the mechanic of choice to do all the aftermarket work, to keep the Clio on record I'll have the service work done at Renault for the stamps just in case it goes back to them when I part exchange for something else.... Like a Megane 4RS ?

So the intercooler kit is fitted by Chris, instantly driving home the difference between the OE and Pro can be seen on the RS Monitor as I can read the charge temps.

So we're bang up to date and pretty much ready for the Cliosport weekender at Blyton the end of August. I feel I've ticked all the boxes on the Clio in changing parts that will help out on track like the Brembo 4 pot calipers, H&R coilovers and the Pro Alloy FMIC kit. One thing I might change is to upgrade the brake pad from the OE R26 to Ferodo DS1.11s. I'm looking for better initial bite than the progressive stop and the DS1.11s will more than do that, I had them on my Megane 225 and felt on point.

Hmm, so browsing the Internet a while back i came across a couple of photos that took my interest pretty quickly regarding the Mk4 Clio. After doing a bit of digging I managed to find the relevant part number, now the only company I know that deal in RenaultSport parts is R Sport. One for the older crew here R Sport used to be Radbourne Racing of Wimbledon. So armed with the part number I make the call to John to which he gives me the price...

"OK, so what's the lead time if I place the order?"

"Tomorrow, we're going over to France so we should have them here by 4pm. If you want to have a think about it we're going back in 10 days time, but if you're looking to place an order today it has to be by midday"

Its half 10, an hour and a half to decide.

11:56am

"John can you order them for me please" ?

"No worries, give us a call tomorrow at 4pm to make sure we're back but the order will go through"

To say I'm excited is an understatement! If I can pull this off and the man maths are correct then I should be the first person with a Mk4 to have done this... But, for now it has to wait ?
