Russ_16v's ITB'd & Caged 182 Track Car (Was Crispy's)

  TrackCar & F30 330d
I'm back!!!!

I had been promising updates for a little while but it appears to be quite difficult to get much done when living in a different country to where the car lives!

I'll have to drip feed the updates as the Internet where I live is a bit sh1t.

So cutting a long story short the car now lives in my garage and when I poped home a month or so ago I thought i'd start here up. Started first time and was ticking over nicely, but for some reason the fuel line was dripping lots of fuel on to my alternator. So very quickly stopped the car!

I first drained the fuel tank by manually running the fuel pump.

Pulled apart the goodridge fuel fixing

8486d83b.jpg

And refitted it

53e9787f.jpg

Bought myself a new key as I'd sold my keys with my ecu! And filled up the tank again

5e40c345.jpg

Went to start the car and it decided to run like a dog and wouldn't idle and sounded like a Subaru!

Fuel did drub on the TPS so it's possiable damaged or there's just air in the fuel line!

When I come back in August I'll have to get Dan from 519 automotive to come work some majic and fix it.

Bought some new track rod ends just to freashen up the steering

And also got my electrician cousin to come round and run electricity to the garage and put lights in.

So next job was to test fit my new studs and nut conversion just to make it easier to change the wheels.

Old very rusty wheel bolts!

New stud and nut

Studs put in (will lock tight them)

Then I can now measure how much I want to cut off

I'll actually have to try it with the Ultraleggers as they have the larger off set!

After 3 months and no clean the car was very dusty and the new garage lights made the car look bad

So rolled it just outside and gave it a wash

The plastic windows had stuff growing in them

So I took the apart and gave them a clean

All clean so back inside to go on axle stands for another 2 months

Gave the wheels a good clean, still had the carbone Lorraine brake dust from the nurburgring all those years ago!!!

After 10 pints I decided to do some retail theropy at probolt

5d2ab136.jpg

So I used these with my new threaded rivit tool to attach my new central switch pannle

Measured, drilled and rivited.

And then attached my little switch pannle I made months ago. May not look amazing but it does the trick, and still needs the wires taping up

5a9e8de7.jpg

Just needs the names sticking on

All in perfect reach

Like I said it still needs tidying up but it's getting there

Finally I removed the locking mech from the boot, I will bet cutting this bracket out next time.

And then before I knew it I had to go and catch my flight!

Short but sweet.

  BMW Z4
Liking the updates Chris :) Stop whining though, I built a complete race car remotely from Switzerland LOL (with your help of course)

  TrackCar & F30 330d
Yeah cheers guys, it's getting there!

The lights on the dash are indicators at the far sides. Alternator, shift light and I can't member what the other red light was for lol. The switches on the dash are,
Ecu
fuel pump overide for draing the tank
starter motor
Rain/fog light
And a few spares

Switch pannle to the left of me has
iindicators
windscreen wash bbutton
windscreen wipers
Manual Radiator fan (but the fan will actually be linked to the ecu)
Rear side lights
Windscreen demister

I'll maybe buy a proper dash at some point but for now this is good enought to be able to drive it.

  Clio 1.2
Just read this thread from start to finish, taken me about three days! Absolutely fooking love this car, has given me loads of ideas for when I get my 182 - I'm only 17 so currently only got a 1.2 :( I'm also hoping to work in Motorsport engineering but am looking for apprenticeship, although I do have place at Oxford Brookes with a conditional offer of BC which I will definitely get unless I really **** something up. 3 more weeks and then all my exams are done :)

  TrackCar & F30 330d
Oh wow - so you drive it without a rev counter? :|

Rev Counters weigh too much ;)

I'll set the shift light to come on at 7200rpm so i know i have a few more revs before i should change. Possiably could be a lot of Limiter hiting on my first trackday!

You'll pick it up in no time mate, I don't ever look at my dash apart from to look at water temp :) Good progress and can't wait to see it on track!

  182 Trophy #113
Reading this thread takes me back! The car was such a minter when you bought it, It's a completely different beast these days! Let me know when you're planning your next track day.

Think this thread deserves a little bump, one of the more interesting reads i've had on CS for a wee while.

Really love it when families are full of petrolheads, fortunately I have a very similar family - minus the huge house.

I'm rubbish at updates these day!

but as some of you may know I did finish the car and I managed to get to Bedford on the 9th of Feb

i had a pretty bad tracking settings and with a combination of cold R888's and very skippy conditions it was a bit of a handful!

[vid
cutting a long story short I had to buy a new alternator and battery.

I carried out some tracking changes and finished off some other bits and went to Oulton park on the 26th of March.

Heres one of my faster laps chasing to very quick Homda Integras

I will post some pictures shortly of what's new!

I do notice my passengers pressing the imaginary brake peddle when coming to a corner! So maybe a footrest might give them something to press against lol.
