Stripped 172 Turbo

Can I ask what studs and bolts you are using for the turbo to manifold join? I am having problems with mine coming loose every now again. They last about 6 months before they are completely shagged.

They are just normal exhaust studs, came already fitted to the manifold. Nuts are Mercedes exhaust manifold nuts borrowed form work!!
PM me you address and how many you need and I will try and get you some and post them to you.
shouldn't come loose as they are proper lock nuts designed for the job

Had to draw a line somewhere, could have spent a lot more on most of the parts if I really wanted to.
 
I only went tubular after the cast one cracked, bloody rubbish under heat mine was. Dont know what the ktec one is like, but i suppose there is only one type of cast iron. I was running alot more boost than i imagine you will be though. Cracking work i must say though :) TOP JOB!!

:D Will send a pm in a little bit. You should keep any eye on the engine mounts on the car as I think my turbo has been banging around and loosening my studs due to all my mounts being shagged.

I know youve prob said it back a few pages but what size is the turbo ??

question,where do you tap an oil feed from for the turbo?

Oil feed is taken from the pressure sensor with an adaptor included in the kit. Can see it here just above the oil filter fitting, green plug connector is the original pressure sensor fitted into the new adaptor with braided hose.

Oil return was drilled and tapped into the block during the machining work, was just a blank section in the block webbing before but in perfect place for sump return (think renault knew when they designed the F4R block ;) )

Ha, that oil returns perfectly placed!! Good old Reno, always one step ahead!

The oil return on the F4R-774 in the Megane is in a very similar place so I guess they were thinking the same thing at some point :evil:.

Small update for you all, although it doesn't look like much progress I got loads done this afternoon. All wiring is now done, starter connected and a lot of tidying up done in the engine bay.

Anyway, these turned up last week but had to go to Germany with work so didn't get a chance to touch the car.

Fitted spark plugs and inlet manifold, also got radiator and A/C condenser fitted

Re-made the heat shield as I wasn't happy with the first one, fitted all the samco coolant hoses and new header tank

At which point my camera died so last two pics are on my phone, A/C all plumbed in,front cross member back on and o/s headlamp ( yes, I know it needs silvervisions;) )

Did do some more after this pic but forgot to take any more before I left. Very close now, all thats left is refit the drive shafts and hubs ( waiting for compbrake solid top mounts to arrive first), top up all fluids and fit the intercooler and pipe work . Then get the exhaust made and get it to k-tec for mapping:D

Yep, and I won't get much time to use it so will take forever to run in. Can see me doing late night runs just to get some miles on her!
