Great write up mate ! and a great way to mark your late Dads Birthday 🙏

Shame now how so many new modern cars are just souless.

Hope one of the first foot rests I made you have is still wearing well? it has been on quite an adventure the last few years! 😀

Mate! The foot rest still looks mint and has probably been the most reliable part on the car! Thanks! 🤣

Trophy Twins - Enjoying Tropical Wales
31-May-2026

It's all been a bit boring. The Trophy is driving well (was driving well, more information to follow) and there hasn't really been all that much to report. This is a win. I have simply been able to drive it and enjoy it.

Back in early May, I met up with another local Trophy owner and grabbed a coffee at the infamous Baffle Haus (this time at their Old Post venue). A plan was hatched to enjoy a drive out somewhere towards the end of the month. It was also an excuse for me to check out his Trophy and to try and identify a strange knocking noise that popped up from time to time. The good news is that it was nothing serious, did not sound too bad, and certainly did not compromise the handling of the car. The bad news is that it made my Trophy sound like the beat-up s**tbox that it is! His Trophy was like a Rolls compared to mine. :ROFLMAO:

Trophy (x2) sat patiently whilst owners guzzled coffee

Moving on, the end of the month arrived and we were blessed with some rather nice weather. The plan was simple. Enjoy some local roads that my fellow Trophy owner had not experienced before, grab lunch somewhere, and then head over to Brightwell's in Leominster to check out their current auction lots. The roads were reasonably quiet so we were able to push on and stretch the legs a bit en-route. The only minor downside was that my stereo head unit suddenly lost power again and I still haven't been able to coax it back to life. No idea what is going on with that.

On the way back, we split up in order to head back to our respective homes and I took a slight detour to visit a few roads I hadn't done for a while. And a great decision it was, too. No real traffic to speak of and I was able to get into a nice rhythm and flow with the car.

About a mile from home... I hit a frikkin' pothole. Driving under the canopy of tall-growing trees, the road was dappled in dark shadow and intense sunlight, making detection of potholes quite a challenge. I failed and hit one. Thankfully not at a ridiculous speed (50mph road) but it has knocked something out of whack, or broken something (maybe). I was able to drive it home ok and the wheel and tyre appear undamaged and run true. But there is a strange creaking from the NSF and turning the wheel results in a strange noise from the steering rack. Frustrating considering I spent a small fortune refreshing the track rods, bushes, mounts, springs, etc. not so long ago. Sigh. LOL. Cry.

But did you find the knock?? 😂

Otherwise, you’ll have this new problem sorted and still have the old one!

The knock was on my friend's Trophy (until I hit the pothole)! We deemed his knock acceptable! LOL! It was very mild and probably related to the fact he is running solid top mounts (soon to be replaced with standard). His car was/is in fantastic condition to be fair.

As for mine... f**k knows, I will have a look at the weekend. :ROFLMAO: For now, we will just have to put up with a pair of knockers.
