time for a suspension upgrade - ideas?

  mk1 ph2 1.4
So far the cars had an intense service (oil, filters, plugs, leads, fluids, tappets etc etc), k&n induction with custom airfeed and heat shielding, a valver front brake set up, fully stripped at the back, and a decat waiting to go on.
So seems about time to move onto suspension.

So what do most you lot do on mk1 1.4s? Would you recommend getting a 16v suspension setup in there? If so, whats involved? Or upgrade otherwise?

Im not interested in a Williams widetrack conversion, no way worth it on a 1.4 (debaitable about the rest of the mods too lol but hey insurance at 17-18 is a nightmare).
Also yes id like the car to be lower, however the main reason for the upgrade is to improve handling, not to just slam it to the ground!

I have a low budget being a student and all, probably around £100 max! although id obviously like to spend less if i can.

cheers guys

chris

Coilovers 16v setup isn't desinged for your car. the 1.8 weights so much more so your car will sit wrong.

For £100 save it and spend in when things break on your car.

cheers edde, wise words from a wise guy, however :quiet: if I was to upgrade the suspension using 1.4 shocks and springs how would I go about lowering a uprating the rear suspension? It clearly hasnt got a conventional shock spring set up.

thanks

Adjust the rear torsion bar thats all you need to do.
