Towing point failed, any come back against Renault?

The RAC towed my g/f's 03 Clio to the garage last week and on the way the tow ring failed and ripped through the front bumper.

The local garage checked it over and it looks like the weld has failed and it's not rusted. We're now left with a nice big hole in the front bumper!

If I raise the issue with Renault do you think I'll get any goodwill gesture to rectify the problem or not?

03 plate? i would doubt it to be honest, others may say differently.

Surely its a case of ring Renault and find out. Though I'm sure they will negate anything you say unless it has a FRSH.

RAC won't claim responsibility as they did everything 'properly' which seems fair enough. It's not got FRSH which is a shame as I'm not a 'loyal' customer....

Yep, however it's my g/f's Clio that's died! I might be bringing it to yours soon as the engine problem still isn't sorted.

With regards to the engine as soon as you turn it on it revs to 2k, accelerator doesn't work, eml light comes on, manifold glows red hot. The garage have checked the mani and exhaust which is fine. I also cleaned out the TB however diagnostics is pointing to throttle position sensor so that's the next step...

Spoke with Renault today and they've booked me in to the local dealership to have photos and an inspection done. Not sure what the outcome will be but I'm slowly making progress! Hopefully I'll get a new bumper out of it but I'm still very doubtful....

I saw a post a few days ago on here about the same thing happening, and the bloke needing a new bumper, at the time I nearly searched for this thread to link to it, but I was too lazy! Unless that was you too.

Just got back from Renault, they took pictures and looked at it on the ramp and it's a bit of a mess. The chap from the service desk didn't really care as it's an old car and said it could happen?! However when I asked him if he'd heard or seen of it happening before he said no....

The photos are being sent to head office and then they'll decide on the outcome I suppose. They did mention getting a bodyshop estimate from another dealership however nothings come of this yet.
