Track Clio 182 cup (pic heavy)

Morning all.

Thought it was about time I registered and stopped lurking.

Currently share a Clio 182 Cup with my co-driver Steve that we use exclusively for trackdays. Bought about 6 months ago we've built it up at home into something we're now pretty happy with.

I come from a background of very high powered cars (including a 400hp+ Peugeot 106, 730hp RS6 etc) - mostly Audis - so it's nice to get back into something that's very direct and although low on power, high on fun!

Spec is:
Clio 182 Cup with 85k miles in Racing Blue.
Fully stripped interior (inc all sound deadening, misc wiring etc).
Buckets & 6 point harnesses mounted to welded seat rails.
Porsche steering wheel on custom boss (Steve was insistent on this being a requirement!)
Sparco intercom for Peltor helmets.
JC Weldfab full weld in multipoint cage, inc door bar braces and windscreen gussets.
Custom made door cards, relocated switches, custom door pulls etc.
Resprayed completely in matt black.

K&N filter.
JC Weldfab decatted full exhaust system.
Henk remap.

KTR 750MC race Spax coilovers all round. 740lbs front, 450lbs rear.
Pure motorsport top mounts & dog bone mount.
Powerflex black bushes throughout.
Pure motorsport rear anti roll bar kit.

CL RC6 brake pads front, standard rears. On standard discs all round. RBF600 fluid.
2x sets of Federal 595RSR's.
1x set of Rainsport 2's.
1x set of dunlop slicks.

I'm sure there's some bits and bobs I've forgotten but that's the bulk of it! Looking forward to seeing some of you guys on track this year :smile:

Thanks guys. We're preparing for March and the clios first ring trip (will also be Steves first). Should ideally be somewhere around 08:30-09:00 btg but obviously traffic and weather (especially in March!) will play a part.

We've another Bedford track day in two weeks time, and then a Cadwell day next beginning of March (I think can't remember date) then the ring.

Fitted the mc750 struts today (replaced the spax rsx's we had) and redid the geometry - only a road test but it's certainly not as harsh as I was expecting, but we can tell already it's going to be so much better on track. Really excited.

So... Brakes were an issue on the last track day - we got a long pedal, not spongy just long. Seems we've got a combination of issues.

First up was a stuck calliper slider and a ruined set of RC6 pads!:

- so we've ordered some willwood 295's with CL6 pads (my pad of choice).
Also in the process of replacing the master cylinder although it's proved to be a pain (as we've a cup car and apparently this means we have an unusual post sized MS. 2x M12 rather than 1xM10 and 1xM12... 😧) Shopping round tomorrow for one as the usual sources (GSF/ECP etc) only have the one we don't want.

Anyway - talking of brakes, we're fitting some new ducting. None of this deflector malarkey:

Welcome...great project thread. RS4s great car, I had a B7 Saloon. The Clio is a great track car so you made the right choice.

Love the air deflectors.

I see those Spax are the Race springs rates for the 182 racing series? Are you planing on racing?

I've had a b7 rs4 and c6 rs6 (730hp) before this so do love my Audis, but also has a 400hp 106 as a "track car" before too so love all sorts! Steve my co-conspirator comes from old school 911's so can drive pretty good, but wanted something cheap and fun

Yep we've got the mc750 suspension on - plans are 1 or 2 Trackdays a month for the rest of this year, along with a rig trip, then next year the MSV trackday trophy. Don't know what we'll do after that though!

I'm expecting great things from the Clio - it's a cracking little car
