Trophy #185's story

Really :/ looks like my Anglesey Trackday will be same then. Will highlight the issues even more there as been there loads of times with other organisers so will be a massive contrast.
I think a lot of it comes down to the higher costs involved for hiring out all the well known circuits tbh mate, so they want to get their money's worth out the job.
Every time I did Donington with them it was the same. Constant red flags for w*****s that have big ambition and f**k all talent!
As a complete contrast though, the day I did with them at cadwell was the polar opposite!! Only 2 red flags all day and everyone appeared to have some decorum!

You don't blame them as a Company doing that anyone would that wants to survive.

Like you said it's the people that cause the stoppages hoping that it will be same as Cadwell for you at Anglesey for me, everytime I've been there with circuit days and Anglesey Track club there's been max of 2 red flags.

If it's not too much trouble then that would be great, Keith. Thank you

They measure approx (+/- few mm) 465mm from end of standard threaded fixing to middle of the Banjo fitting. The banjo is a 45deg fitting.

Pure Hose length is 430mm assuming they fully inserted hose into fittings before crimping.

Ones I got were HEL ones.

July 2015

Been busy this month trying to get all things sorted. First on the list was to get my Sabelt wheel fitted (4-5years in a box - yeah I'm a procrastinator lol)

Had made the cruise control/limiter look up previously so all was straight forward enough, or was until the indicator stalk.

To cut a long story short, one I had bought 4-5 years ago was faulty, the small contact arm had broken off and meant indicators were stuck on in one position. New stalk sorted that out

Wheel cover to try to keep it looking decent.

Booked so time off work to make sure I got the hubs and brakes fitted. Finished one side this afternoon an will do the other on Sunday.

My collection of parts

Thankfully one of older brothers had bought a new battery impact gun so borrowed that. What a machine it is. Made no work of the driveshaft nuts.

Had fun with the steering arms lol, almost gave up to go get some oky/acetylene but thankfully stubbornness payed off.

Decided to hit both jobs and fitted the new brakes too. Was in one mind about changing two things but seemed stupid to have to take brakes off again to fit new ones after sorting the allignment.

All looking very discrete in end.

Need to get other side done, bleed brakes, set up alignment as hear I can before getting it to Birchdown lads for service and some other jobs.

Hi Keith, have you done the MC yet? If not How you finding the brembo on the 182 MC?

Just wondering if I should do it at the same time as doing my conversation.

Not fitted the mc yet, got it all built up, just need to check wether i need any thread adapters or not.

Ive not had chance to take it out for a proper test yet. Waiting for autoglass to arrive today so doubt ill get chance today either but hopefully during the weekdays next week. But initial slow drive around and tbh it feels ok, got feeling it will be if you like a long brake pedal; stick to the standard one. If you want a shorter pedal; like the 197/200 go for the conversion.

I tend to like a slightly longer pedal so might end up sticking with the standard one for time being

Will let you know when i take it for a proper drive :)

Cant wait to take it out properly and test them :)

Oh dear that doesn't sound good :/

Wheel studs and nuts are next on list, already chipped the paint on the calipers swapping wheels lol.

Like you I prefer the brembos with the standard MC, the extra pedal travel is actually quite good and allows you to vary braking pressure better I find.

Love this pic, pure p**n:

Haha thanks, such a nice feeling finally getting them all on.

Initial impressions apart from the noise ;) is very positive. Definitely don't think ill be changing the MC now.

@dablk assuming you're not going ahead with conversion now? They're brilliant stopping power, maybe overkill. Pads I'm using has meant I've been unable to see 100% what they're capable of but they do stop lol.

Was suppose to be getting myself onto a trackday last month but some little issues stopped me so had to be a passanger in my brothers car. So looked to get onto a trackday in September along with the Clio Trophy meet here in North Wales but instead my alternator decided to destroy itself couple nights before.
Looks/sounds like a bearing has gone inside, meaning it's failing on low rpm, fault light clears on higher which leads me to that conclusion. So new one ordered and waiting for it to arrive.

In the meantime I've just had some photos sent to me from the Donnington trackday earlier in the year from my Brothers friends wife and mate, giving me some inspiration :)

Love the Trophy, pretty much ideal spec!

Thank you :) That Astra GTE made me groan when I scrolled down, sooooo much want!

It's imacculate, started off by getting the cleanest Mk2 he could get a hold of with intention of getting it better than showroom, restoring it almost 100% to mint stage with a mildly tuned C20XE then deciding to go stripped out track car with even more power. It's Immacculate and quick.

Only way to have a track car ;-)

Liking the brake upgrade mate. I'm at the stage where I need to refurb my calipers, so its now a toss up between Brembo upgrade or standard refurb???

The only thing that's stopping me is that the standard calipers with the RC6 or RC8 pads are unbelievable, they grip like no other.... Have you seen any improvement? It may be hard to guage with road pads or even ds 2500 as the Carbon Lorraines seem to be a different level of bite over Ferodo.....

Would be good to get your feedback, cheers.
