What oil to use.

Hi all. Just after a bit of technical.

My car is on 106k and was last serviced at 100.
The garage i took it to told me that i was better to use 10w40 oil as my engine components have more gaps between them (something along those lines) and 5w40 was too thin for my engine.

I am going to be doing the oil change myself next and wondered if it is 10w40 that i need to use or if i can use 5w40 and the local mechanic was chatting S***

Just stick with 5w-40 tbh

5 40 till the end.

10 40 would only be thicker on a cold start anyway

as above, mines on 120k now and still use 5-40 no worries

Stick to the 5W-40, I run the Elf Evolution SXR oil as I get it from ebay £27.92 delivered for 5 litres bargain
