Williams (1) original sound system

Just wondering what the original spec was on the original batch of 400 RHD cars?

The 1993 brochure states that they came with tape deck and four speakers. My car has a Sony head unit/CD changer and six speakers - and Im thinking of getting an original system back in there.

I reckon the Pioneer speakers in the front doors werent there originally, but want to confirm please!

Did the Willy 1 come with speakers in the door bottoms out of the factory? If so, then I want to replace them with some Phase1 16V speakers (or at least the grills) for the original look.

I have a Williams2 and it does NOT have any speakers in the bottoms of the doors. Most I have seen have had them fitted tho...

My 16v has got pioneers in the doors but not sure if they were original as they were there when i bought it!!

Ive got a willy 1, and it has got handmade speaker spacers in the doors (there when I bought it 4 yrs ago). So I think that originally, the cars came out of the factory with four speakers (two in the dash, and two under the plastic supports for the parcel shelf).

Think I still have the standard 16v speakers for mine available if wanted. Not sure if the same as Williams though. 5.25 inch door and 4 inch rear. There may be the two small ones in dash but never looked behind as have replaced with components.

willys did not hav speakers in the doors originally only in the dash an rear

i got an orginal reno head unit somewhere thats same as the 1 in jons (2live) willy 1 if ya want it will hav to dig it out

How much are you after for it? Id like to have one because I hope to keep the car until Im old and grey and can revitalise myself by going for a drive in my slow old Williams and listen to an Oasis tape!

to you mate its free, ill jus need to dig it out the loft an check it works cant remember if there coded if they are will hav to find the code in my paperwork

still got the original valver speakers in mine oh and the stereo too! but thats in the boot heh

The Willy has a fairly decent CD stacker and MD head unit in there at the mo. The thing is that it really needs an amp/better speakers to be any good - and I dont want to fork out for all that as Id never get the benefit from it (I prefer open windows and the sound of the beast). I also dont use MDs either.

So I guess an original tape player would be alright really, but it seems a shame to bin the MD/CD player as it probably cost the previous owner loads of dosh!
