williams engine

have just had a quote from F1 moto in seveoaks near brandshatch for a engine conversion,

he suggestid i go for a williams 2.0 engine in my clio, (51 place)
the put some throttle bodies on it and tune it up and he said for him to do it all including ecu and gearbox all that jazz will cost me £3k and said im looking at 210bph,

is this better then juist a 172 conversion?

also has anyone used them before?

Err why use a Williams engine?
210 from just throttle bodies and stock Williams isn't likely. BenR built a 218hp throttle bodies camed and headworkied one so 8hp less without cams and head work isn't likely.

How does he intend on getting it all to work does he realise the throttle is electric for starters and he'll have to work a wiring diagream out.

What sort of driveshafts does he want to use?

£3k doesn't seem a bad price but I'll bet it doesn't work out like that.

£1.5k will get you all the bits to make a 172 engine car brakes suspnsion etc (I'm guess the guy intend using stock suspension and stock brakes (admitidly stock brakes are the same as your own car) then £500 to £1k for fitment depends where you go would be my choice.

i dont have a clue, i asked for a 172 engine and he said that the williams engines are better, he did say somthing about the wiring but its all abit much for me, i get confused. :S :S :S

y do you say that mate.
Cos this doesn't sound right.
Wiring up a Wiliams engine with a stand alone ECU (throttlee bodies will require a stand alone) takes as long as a 172 engine so no saving there. Also your car runs a multi plex netwrok so that needs to be sorted out (not a huge issue but needs to be sorted anyway). the stock the 172 engine makes more power for starters so if your just bunging throttle bodies on and running stand alone go for the 172 the mounts driveshafst brakes suepsnion can be sorted off the shelf and proven to work.

If he doesn't understand what he's doing and not much for the price indicates he does then I'd walk away.

okay mate, i though he was talking abit of b****cks, do any of you know the gaff, he did get a 5turbo upto 254bhp coz i was there wen it was rr and ent for a drive in it and it was scary as fook,

company you went to wasn't LAD motorsport was it? lol

the Willy engine is better once tuned, but as standard it makes less power as it runs lower duration lower lift cams, plus the diesel crank means it's not very high reving... for £3k he's pulling your dick, as you need the bodies themselves, cams, headwork, stand alone management and then there are things like the rad and bigger injectors... it's going to cost about £6k+ to have it done properly at a guess (depends on what cams, headwork and ECU you go for, but £6k would be a good build imo).
