Worn or Warped Disks? How can i tell...?

is there any difference between the two ^ ??

brakes have been squeeking for quite some time now... and recently when i brake its like the brakes are being applied then it gets slightly lighter then back on the same pressure, like the disks bent or something and the pads arent applying even pressure?

i guess im gona have to change them asap, standard disks good enough or should i get different ones?

cheers.

If the disc's are warped then the steering wheel will vibrate when you brake. If the disc's are worn out then there will be a large lip around the edge of them, on the outside where there is no pad/disc contact and they will be much thinner than they should be.

i see, well there dosent seem to be a lip on the outside edge, just a sort of lip on the inside edge...

so if its not on the outside is it not worn?

From those photo,s i would say they were worn. you can see the wear lip on the outside edge.

Worn disks measure the thickness with a micrometer.

Warper check with a DTI. Unlikly to warp unless you get the brakes very hot and then stop dead and leave your foot on the pedal the pad stick to the disk and make the disk unever.

Stock disk are fine even with harder race pads.

price am i looking at for stock disks? what sort of price should i be paying for labour? and will the system need bleeding?

£40 to £60 at most motorfactories places (£60 at Halfords). Make sure you get the 259mm one most places don't sell the right ones.

Say 1 hour to fit and 40 minsto bleed the brakes and £10 for somedecient fluid for the brakes might as well get the system bled if your changing both.
