would 17" td 1.2's look daft on a 182?

  RB Clio 182
Some have come up at a very good price although not my 1st choice of colour so i would be getting them refurbed if i did get them.

Im thinking they would look too big?

They are 205/45 17

Have you ever driven the same car on 17s and on 15s?

Judging by your post I would assume not.

Nearly pains me to see how all the other possible variables get ignored in these sorts of threads r.e. fact/opinion/comparison.

Tyres (type, width, sidewall stiffness, pressure, temperature, tread depth)
Wheel weight (unsprung mass etc)
Rolling diameter (17" wheels raise CofG a good 30mm or so relative to 15"s)
Someone even admitted their comparison was on lowering springs (straight away that means it is very likely camber angle has changed a little, the roll centre has moved, amount of body roll has changed not to mention the possibility of different spring rates)

Any of the above can have a bigger difference than the diameter of a wheel.

And with the most respect possible to Tony (for handling feedback I know who I'd trust out of a racing driver and someone who's had a 10min go in a mate's car on different wheels!) people also seem to forget (RainX thread springs to mind) that fast road/track/proper race cars are three massively different environments.

/rant :p

But 17s look w**k on a mk2 Clio (in most cases). Regarding the handling: Cup racers ran 15s aswell...

Oh I completely agree r.e. looks and that 15s are most likely (never driven them) the optimum size.

The rant was in response to those who ignore/don't consider big things (saying 17s are great with different suspension or that 15s on a track car felt great compared to 16s on a STD car) And not just this thread.

Totally agree, so many post on here when I'm sure most haven't got a clue. I probably take advice seriously from about 5, maybe 10 people on here. Whilst I like to have the crack, I only offer real advice when I know for sure what I'm on about. It's other people's money that I don't want them to waste.

Personally I think they look a tad big, but I wouldn't tell anyone not to bother if that's what they want to do. That's what makes people individual.
