yet another Clio 182 track day road going car. Callyteee's blog

not had much of a chance to update this but a week has past and the Clio was out at Knockhill last Sunday.

great day out, car went well, still got a bit of an issue with the abs lights serv and traction control lights coming on, but they seemed to be coming on and after a few start stops go back of, so managed to go round the track with them off! that and my dephaser started screaming!!

Was looking at my track tires the other day and my front passenger side took a kicking, so much that all the way around it there is a small chunk miss maybe 1mm deep.. will need to consider replacing the tyres sooner than thought, hoped I could get one more track day out them as well!

few pictures from the day:

who's the best for new or part worn track tires then? haha.

Update:

One week to go till the next hot hatch day and the clio is back up and running. Had it over at rentec to get the steering angle sensor sorted and a few bits n bobs, wheels bearings, spacers and needed a flexi.

So today was the first chance to make a wee attempt to do a few things needed

first try on my replacement wheels, doing away with the 16" cup alloys and dropping down to 15's to match the track wheels

unsure if to keep them silver or put them anthracite?? Suggestions? These will be road/wet day wheels

next was to fit my bucket seat

5E1DB7BC-EF22-4780-8AC8-70E2F3EFE686_zpsxiuwkz3g.jpg

some weight in that seat BTW!!!

What wires are you putting a risistor into to turn the lights off the dash??

FEB9CC66-86ED-4233-A0C5-CC633EBC6721_zpsjl3oy8uk.jpg

And that's as far as I got haha.... Started removing the sound proofing from the floor but will tackle that again tomorrow. Then fit the seat and remove the passenger one aswell.

Full 182 interior up for grabs soon aswell ;)

Count down is on and tonight I got the seat in place and secured

also dropped of my 15's to get refurbed and spayed should be getting them back tomorrow..

Whats left to do is...
fit harness
get air bag light off
Collect wheels
get tyres on wheels
keep striping the car!

Have a search in the guides section mate, there's a thread with pics showing you what wires to put the resistor across, I don't have any pics of my own I'm afraid.

Update:

Sunday was the Clio's 5th time out at knockhill and turned in to a great wee day out. Weather held out all day and plently of track action so all good

few video's:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zWzMktWsW8

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUpglG5XleA

car ran really well, with the weight loss from the interior being removed and the lightweight flywheel I noticed a pretty good change on power delivery. The car was pulling alot better out the hair pin and was in general alot lighter feeling.

I wish I ran on semi slicks but didn't take them with me as I thought it was going to rain. Ended up running on my road tyres and ruined the front passenger side to the point where its warped and splitting with the heat. apart from that one tyre no other issues to report so overall Happy.

still to get the air bag light off due to removing the seat, plan is to get a decat sorted for it along with wrapping the exhaust system. but as it goes for getting it faster, yeah remap is on the cards, but its going really well the now so no rush as such right now to get that done.

few pics never got any track action ones

manged to sell the 182 alloys and interior before Sunday there which was handy but had a moment of having to weigh everything and the 182 alloys weighed between 18.5kg to 21kg, that's with the tyre still on.... that and the drivers seat weighed just over 20kg!! bit of usless info for you's there ;)

new wheels fitted weighed in at 15kg with tyre so about 5kg a wheel saved there! weight saving took serious now haha

Tonight was the first time since the 6th hot hatch day I've had to play about with the clio...

things needing done are too sort the tyres out.. Again.. How's this for destroying a new tyre anyone done better yet still got home on it haha

Got a set of lightweight door cards to fit along with getting the exhaust looked at and wrapped and a oil change so a bit to do but not a major!

How long do you's use the same set of plugs? I'm onto my 3rd set since having the car but think I might be changing them too much..... Spare plugs if any one needs one ;)

Lol that's fucked!!
Proper plugs last 72k. I forgot and left mine in for 80k, put new ones in and there was no difference at all. So the old ones were still fine. Lol at 3 sets since you've owned it and I'm on my second but bought it in 2007!

Lol that's f**ked!!

It's a beauty ain't it haha!!

only had the car a year.. Plugs will be staying then!

Not updated this in a while so here goes:

Cars been off the road for the winter, last Trackday it had was October.. I think.

Mod wise it's had the decat done since last update and back box bracket fixed and then broke again, now has a cracking hole in one of them. Just leaving until I can be arsed to fix tbh.

It's last track day it lost a set of rear brake pads, split pin went missing on the drivers side and there was me fleeing into the hairpin with no brakes

That's now fixed the prep for the dryer months has now started

A few Bonus point if any one guess what these belong to ha.. Not hard tbh,

So with that to fit and also recent purchase of this..

D3851F7B-2EE2-4D8E-AF32-7E9645637D33_zpsyagankya.png

Going to cut out the bar for the harness fitment out the cage (saving the weight!) Along with a service and brake fluid change the to do list stands as:

• Service
• brake fluid change
• mod and for cage
• fit ARB.

Other note, been looking at cams aswell but don't know if it's worth the hassle, as I've done a belt and removed the aircon already. Still want it remapped but if I am camming it I want it done before the map for obvious reasons.

Target track day planned is in March so weather permitting easy target to get!

Cheers

Update:

Cage is now fitted and the weight saving, cage cutting happened..

A work in progress picture, quick paint and easy enough to fit, in via the side door and bolted in.

Also whiteline ARB is also fitted got it on the softer setting see how that goes. Any one know a ideal position to fit the drop links on it? I guessed and couped roughly the whiteline fitting guide pictures.

Another note it's all MOT'd and road legal again and along with that got dot5.1 fresh fluid change. So brakes are good now. But had a issue with a rear wheel being a bit buckled so that's now been replaced aswell

Wheel and refurb costing £60 all in. Thought that was good going. Out the scrappy and it was straight..

Looking track now, odd wheels are for real! 😂

Looking good mate. Mines undergoing a transformation at the moment. Should be ready for knockhill again soon

  Supercharged AG 200
Cars Looking really good mate, hope to see you at KNOCKHILL this year positive I saw you out a couple of times last year in different sessions.

The whiteline is a great modification, Set mine to soft after first install as well, but should have put it straight to hard, just remember on a wet day to disconnect it....

having similar dilemma to you on the power upgrade front, but have decided to have another year of enjoying the car first.....

update!

Hoping next Sunday 22nd is good as it'll be the first time out since parking up for the winter.

Cars up and ready and has been along to SOS Motorsport in falkirk for a rolling road remap!

First ran came up @175bhp so was running good to start with...

After a day's worth of tuning car now running @ 188bhp. Really happy with that considering 182's tend to be a bit pants!

So today was a bit of rewiring day. Burnt out rear brake light. Just bypassed all the plugs

... Cardboard with a sticker on it 😂 only have two speakers under the dash anyway so not as if the radio was any good

Car just needs a clean, clean the track wheels and fill it with juice and it's ready again.

It's a reverse day at knockhill and Weathers looking decent aswell.

First Trackday done of 2015 and the car ran great!

no issues, no problems... I'm shocked ha!

was a reverse day and weather was good...i did miss my first session while still signing up but hey, few video's to watch on my new go-pro like cam :grinning:

happy with the way the car is running so will probably just give it a fresh oil and filter change and have wee bits and bobs to fit like washer blacks etc..
