You still can if you come round one afternoon! Lol! It's sat out the back doing nothing other than me waiting to remove its 420hp heart.

It certainly was mate. 420hp, 174mph top speed (limited by the 5spd box) and looked like pretty much every mk3 Astra gsi out there! Lol! Took a few by surprise and used 3 lanes of the m1 to keep in a straight line when given the 2 bar boost treatment. Lol! Then along came a little 53 plate cup with cc that I used as my daily driver. That was the end for the Astra unfortunately due to the chassis of the cup. Went to the ring in it one year as I couldn't be arsed to stop for fuel every 200 miles and scored an 8:53 - the Astra could only muster an 8:58 with double the hp. The rest is history now.
It it will live on though as my mate is fitting the engine in his mk2 sr albeit slightly detuned to 330hp.

I'll pop round for a brew next week seeing as I'm on nights, I was under the impression you'd got rid of the actual car and just had parts lol

Yeah no worries mate. Nah been waiting on my mate paying for the engine as he's had to pay for it on instalments!! Lol! Once the engines out, the big strip will commence!

Well seeing as it was dry today thought I'd make the most of it and give the T a well earned clean.
Heres me method
Pre Jet wash
Autobrite direct snowfoam
2 bucket wash using wash mitt and meguiars gold class
Megs clarity glass cleaner
Megs tyre gel
Auto glym trim restorer
Heres the results with a few before, during and after pictures.

Haha hit the nail on the head. On here secretly looking fancy another Clio after the wedding. Maybe 172 cup or 182 depending on funds and what's about.

haha good car to take like, how long have you had it for now? It was either one of these or a r26 to replace my 197 as my daily as much as I'd live a trophy I'm going Megane for something different from a clio.

Yeah I came from a 197 and before that a 172, I played with all of them. Only reason I sold 197 was to buy a house and replace it with a cup but got excited and bought a T.
I've been looking at 197's and Meg's to run daily as can't see me selling the trophy due to amount of money I've spent so far and its in 95k now so may put some folk off.
Also I'd love to 225 a 197 next
but all depends on work and what I can hide from the missus haha
put it under the bed???

So far there's a pair of shiney Sachs trophy dampers under there and Powerflex stabiliser haha, can't see a whole 197 fitting under there haha

I could find myself looking for a clio sooner rather than later mate if the insurance write the bm off today, had some one run into the back of it just before Christmas nothing major but being an old car and there not really worth much they'll probly just write it off.

How do you rate the trophy to the 197? I don't think Id own another 197 now, unless it was Megane powered like you say lol.

Totally different tbh, the 197 I enjoyed it but for different reasons.
The 197 I found easy to drive fast and installed a lot of confidence in the driver and great traction but lacked the raw feel and always felt like it could of done with a little more poke.
Where as the trophy is a little more raw and requires a little more confidence but it just feels special as soon and you sit in the recaros. Granted it is not as comfy as the 197 but when you nail those set of bends on a nice road or have a little lift off oversteer it's all worth it!

Yes I spent a lot on it. I do miss it was a great car and the plate was good too
Yeah I did a trip to the ring a week after I bought it, only once ever let me down and that was a duff battery but every time I jump in it it makes me smile haha. Cheers for the pic, I'm hoping to hit the tracks this year, can't see me getting rid now, pretty much every ball joint and bushe has been replaced so feels like new.
