Dr Jekyll's Ph1 172 Progress Thread

Multi quote, y0!

Yep that's what I thought you meant. its the only bit left on mine I haven't changed over yet

Get the Fabia splitter done! Makes a massive difference. I also want to get the LED dash conversion done but its way down on the list at the moment. STILL haven't done all the belts yet and its been way over a year!

I will do I think buddy. For what little money they are, it's worth trying. Nobody sees the holes if I decide to remove it anyway.

And why have you not done the belts yet?! Hang your head in shame ;)

Lovely motor  nice to see another mint ph1.

I liked your bg too. Interesting to read your thoughts on how the ph1 compares to it.

I did do a small comparison on one of the first couple of pages on this thread. Bottom line is I prefer the ph1. There's pros and cons to both, and both have been modified a fair bit but I like the simplicity of the cockpit and front end of the ph1. I also like that it feels smaller and I prefer silly little things like the coloured stitching on the seats. Ph2 seems more thought out (by a small bit) with interior qaulity, such a glove box light, better cup holders and ashtrays. I'll probably have another ph2 at one point but out of the 2 I prefer ph1.

It gets better & better does your clio mark. Probably my favourite Ph1

Thanks buddy, but nowhere near as good as some others on here. Scott's and Craig's are way more superior.

My mates selling red magnecor leads. There sweet because their my old ones

Hes never fitted them as he spent a fortune on parts for his 172 but has just brought a 197 Cup

Tbh I'll wait a while as its pretty much for looks

Brilliant work Mark, looking really good!

Stunning! Absolutely stunning

Thanks chaps :)

Do it Jekyll

I may have to do so, we shall see.

Get a splitter! Looks to high

On the cards. Emily phones up skoda as we have a dealer in our town and the bloke she spoke to didn't even know what one was!

  Mini GP2
Beautiful Ph1, that engine bay is a dream.

I am guessing the oil cap is the same size for a 197 ? If so could you let me know the part number as mine is discoloured and looks tatty. Cheers.

  Many.
Yes please buddy. Either chuck it in here or drop Em a message on FB.

Certainly seems that way! Find Adam Greenhouse, or Renault Sport Parts Specialist on facebook (Renault Wolverhampton on here), he'll sort you out. As that is where all of Marks bits came from.

I've also got some ATE superblue and me and @AlexW are going to re-bleed the brakes on Saturday as they still feel a bit spongy for my liking.

  Many.
Adam is hard to get hold of these days. Facebook is the best place to find him I think, although hes been a bit hit and miss for me this week. Always phone his place though, they are super!

I got my bits from my local dealer. The discount is not as good as Adam's but I'm not on Facebook so this is easier for me until he comes back on here.

It's far from stunning guys. It's clean enough for a 14 year old car though

Got the splitter fitted tonight.

  A special one.
Amazing work so far mate, its nice to see you trimmed the splitter or perfect.

Most i see look they have been done with a bread knife.

I actually cut it with a disc cutter Scott. Was easier to do than a sharp Stanley blade or similar. Hate seeing hacked splitters!

Thanks Russ. The pictures make it look better than it is though

Got a few more jobs done. Main thing was to bleed the brakes to see if we could eliminate the pedal travel. Unfortunately after our bleed, the travel is still there. The fluid came through clean and with no air so we are looking into a bigger master cylinder. Fitted shock bolts front and rear, new bonnet stay and bracket, new boot clips, new throttle cable rubber, new inlet bolts, new washer pipe clips and washer pipes as my old was squashed. We only had clear ones at hand but once fitted and I saw the green screen wash come though I actually prefer it

On the way down there I managed my lowest MPG yet. We was greeted by the security but they turned onto be a friendly bunch!

@Dr Jekyll nice to see this is still progressing well!

Pretty sure I have a spare set of fog lenses in my mums garage?

Thanks Rob. I'm sure I will always be doing something to it!

If you have got a spare set that woulv be great! I'll sort you out monies if so :)

Looking awesome mate, the last picture really captures the iceberg colour imo.

I agree mate. Iceberg can look quite dull, but it does have a nice sparkle when the sun hits it which you don't normally see and in the right light, like above, the purple pearl comes through :)

I did that too Scott! it's a lovely light and nimble bike and its really easy to flick the back out. Brakes were not the greatest mind, which I found out after a bit of late braking!
