I'm looking fitting the megane scenic rear beam (99-03) but need to check they fit. Did you ever look at that option?

i never did no. only ever looked at how to modify the original. as with anything i guess there is always a way but i dont know the mounting hole spacings on this one.. look wider.. or the shock spacing.. i suspect that would be your main problem but maybe also change in wheelbase also

Did you change the torsion bar on it?

the standard bar is retained but following what renault did on these beams for gr.A i added the option to add an extra external arb. the one fitted in the photos is a front mx5 standard one but i actually changed the front arb setup to take mx5 ones too so there are lots of options on diameter etc for those and you can interchange both front and rear from the same setup so saving 1/2 the cost of options effectively.. just change the bar and bushes.. ive got something like 25 or 26mm front and 19mm rear currently..

Looks great @ClioMaxi

Im going to try a similar setup for the rear arb on my extra van, basically same axle apart from drums/24mm torsion bars.

build has been going on so long i started documenting it on a chalk board.. but loads of photos i can dig out.. shell is an ex cup car.. sadly now full of holes so thats the next bit to sort but 2nd engine partly built. low ratio lsd jc5 built and most other parts built more or less from scratch.. if i remember ill dig out some more stuff and post it..

Hi Mate, what did you use for this bracket and the bush? And what size turnbuckles for the ends?

i think i used standard mx5 centre brackets and bushes on the back with a 6mm plate or something welded to the beam and tapped to take bolts.. for the droplinks its a pair of male and female rod ends to suit the standard shock bolts. the front bushes were custom machined alloy to take mx5 polybushes and fixed to custom welded plates on the subframe

Hi Mate, you don't by chance happen to know the track width from outer edge to outer edge of tyre at the front do you?

sorry i dont but if you take the rim width in mm, divide it by 2 then add the rim offset, multiply by 2 and add the published track width you will be close, not allowing for camber

Does 1590mm sound correct for the published track width? Can find different numbers

If so my rims are 7J 178mm / 2 = 89mm + ET36 = 125mm x 2 = 250mm + 1590mm (Maxi Track width?) = 1840mm

something sounds a bit off. the total width according to the attached doc is 1741.. ah minus the offset for a start so 1696 sounds more like

Reason I ask is because I have a non maxi wide front end that works with the standard bumper. I think it may be as wide as the maxi where the wheels are but just comes back in to meet the normal bumper rather than the maxi bumper. I have a picture of them when I offered up the maxi bumper on my phone but can't get it off there as vodafone network is down.

This is the other wide arch kit I have, its 1720mm from the edges of the wings where the face of the tyre would be:

thats the old prima maci kit iused to have. it is narrower. i have pictures of it on 8 inch et 11 rims with a comparison against the full maxi wing

more like 30mm if i remember.. there may also be spacers on there.. its been so long i cant remember but knowing some of the bodging i found, there probably are

OK so ~ 1780mm wing to wing, just trying to figure out where my wheels need to sit to fill the arches if I go full maxi. I have the bumper but need to order the wings, going to finish the car as is first though and then see. Subframe is 50mm wider per side and uses Clio Cup LCA's and Hubs etc which give it a little bit more width but not entirely sure how much. It should fill these Prima wings OK but ideally dont want to use spacers to go Maxi, I do have ET36 wheels though so ET6 ish wheels should do it.
